I'm actually convinced that his comment was more sinister than him being insecure, I think that the fucker's a ladder puller who thinks that just because he played Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, he can be the only dwarf actor in the big leagues. How about you look at some of his other roles he played in the past? Elf, where the joke was "look how short he is the main character thinks he's an elf", Infinity War where he was a blacksmith but the joke was that he was a dwarf who happened to also be giant, 3 Billboards where his biggest contribution to the story (to my recollection) was canceling a date because he thought Frances McDormand was embarrassed to be dating a dwarf, an adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac where the difference in why Cyrano got Christian to deliver the letters was that Cyrano was short instead of having a hideously big nose? Probably more that aren't even coming to mind, my point is that he doesn't give 5 fucks about insecurities or taking "offensive" roles that make fun of dwarfism or talk down on dwarves, he just wants to make sure he's one of the only famous dwarf actors in Hollywood.
You're forgetting the best performance Dinklage has ever given, Tiptoes where he plays a French Marxist. And yes, that's Gary Oldman pretending to be a dwarf going on a date with Bridgette the Midget Powers, the famous dwarf porn star.

Pretty sure the word "dwarf" is never used either.

I hate to "Well, ackshually..." you, but they do, in fact, say 'dwarf'. In the clip I posted earlier, the Evil Queen says, "I'll go myself to the dwarves' cottage."

I have a feeling from the trailer that they intend to redefine "fair" to mean "just", rather than in reference to her skin tone, and that will be the impetus for her usurping the queen, because "The people deserve kindness!"
But yes, this is their grand plan. There is an interview with the stupid spic explaining how "fairest" is about who is the most "just" which I'd dare say is something that a cruel monarch would give very little fucks about.

Can I just say, I fucking hate this shit, the way modern writers with modern sensibilities play around with language so disingenuously when adapting older media. It reminds me of Ariana Grande in that one interview for the Wicked movie saying that Oz has always been queer, because even back in the original Oz books by L. Frank Baum, the most commonly used word is 'queer'.

Don't fucking bullshit me. You know that back in the day, when those books were written, 'queer' had a very different connotation to what it means now. It meant strange or unsettling (...I mean, some could argue it still does, amirite? :christine:), it didn't mean that everyone who lived in Oz was a bunch of crossdressing fucking homos. It's literally historical revisionism. I know you've got a movie to flog and gay men love musicals, but come on, why do you have to tell such an obvious fucking lie?

My question to the writers is: if the Evil Queen is really asking "Who is the fairest of them all?" with 'fairest' meaning 'most just' as opposed to 'most beautiful', why is she looking in a fucking mirror when she asks it?

Trailer for Snow White is here, it looks awful. Bad CG (especially when compared to live action Snow White movies from years ago now), and she just does not bring to mind Snow White at all, with her constant grimace face and being uglier than the evil queen by miles.

:story:I actually started laughing when I saw the face in the mirror. The dwarves at least manage to look badly animated and horrifying, but this just looks bad and cheap.

How does a 240 million dollar film that was produced in 2024 have CGI that looks like it could've appeared in a late 90s TV show?

It looks like the Shrek version with bad lighting.

While audiences have flocked to movie theaters, fans haven’t been so kind to the film’s music and its songwriters. The main criticism is that the songs don’t have that Disney hook, with some even saying it needed better songs. Or that the songs just don’t live up to those composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda for the 2016 original. Songwriter Abigail Barlow responds with a smile, “Give it a month, all the kids will be singing it, and you’ll be tired of it.”

I think the reason Snow White winces more than say Lilo and Stich LA is because It's THE CROWING jewel of Walt Disney's entire career.
Without Snow White not only would we not have Disney, but theatrical animation as a whole.
Walt and Ub Iwerks basically almost committed financial suicide and the media of the time were calling it Disney's folly because nobody believes that anybody would sit to watch an hour long cartoon because of whatever mumbo jumbo they thought.

It not only proves them wrong, but inspired millions around the world to get into animation and it also directly influenced the work of various Japanese artists.

People can say what they want about Snow White now, but it very much is the Big bang as far as the animation world goes.

If there's ONE movie that should have been left alone it should have been this one above all else because this film has upset everybody regardless of where they align politically and Rachel Ziegler is going to have her career ruined before it even starts.

Snow White doesn't need a race lift because it does nothing for the story and goes against the name.

The story is literally gave people from the 1920s hope during the depression, Snow White is rewarded for being a genuine kind person and a world that is cynical and ironic.

It's simple, but you notice all these little things that made the original such a warm blanket of a movie and none of that is here.

I'll go as far to say that mufasa at least has a point to itself because at least it's exploring a part of your original story that was never touched on (and based on what I heard I actually like the songs).

I don't like to say this because it's cringe usually, but I really do think Walt it's probably spinning around like a beyblade in his grave over this

So what is with Disney's aversion to casting actresses who can actually sing? As ugly as Halle Bailey is, she at least can put in effort and did what she could with the material handed to her, even though the end result is she'll never be as iconic as Jodie Benson. Can Ziegler even sing well enough?

*few YouTube searches later*

She doesn't sound like she can even attract animals with song, she's like every other sanitized pop singer out there especially in how she forces herself to belt notes out (thought she took lessons? They would've taught her not to do this?). Also just will not emote with her face whenever she sings. Ugh.

Bring back Broadway-trained singers, please.

To think this concept trailer is leagues better than the "real" one.

What are the actual odds of Disney acknowledging that they used to have a robust original live action movie department?

The only ones I see them regularly acknowledge are Mary Poppins and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Disney remade many of those as well. Only that was during the Renaissance/early 2000s so most of them were at least watchable. You could also easily access the originals because they were still airing them on TV or releasing them on video.

I suppose most of the super old classics that weren’t put on Disney+ yet would have those “this is racist” disclaimers put before them like they have done with Dumbo and the like, because old. Which means kids wouldn’t be able to easily watch them if they actually wanted to see them from how Disney+’s kid settings work. Such disrespect of their heritage/their founders legacy/their old audience.

The story of the making of Snow White feels likes its own Disney movie. An example of innovation and preservation at proving that innovation despite the odds. “Disney’s Folly” was his baby. Moreso than even Mickey Mouse, despite that he voiced Mickey himself for the longest time. Remaking it into an ugly, almost unwatchable mess feels dirty, even disgraceful, in a way that the other soulless remakes of the past ten years don’t because of that.

1930’s, though I agree with your sentiment. It’s a movie so iconic, even Hitler considered it his favorite movie.

He loved it so much that he drew fanart of it

Rachel basically got her start by doing random covers of famous broadway songs on youtube, but I can't tell you how she somehow spiraled into stardom.

The closest I can compare her to is Ariana Grande, but she actually had a Broadway career since she was a preteen where is Rachel just gained a following from leftist theater kids who somehow saw themselves in her.

which are pointless because, to reiterate a point I have made before, they still haven't re-released Song of the South yet, and they never will.

I can. It involved getting on her knees before Steven Spielberg or some other Pedowood executive.

I have some respect for the director of Mufasa, cause man he is at least honest he did this shit for the bag.
Sure, but that interview came long after the reaction of the first teaser.

I'm not saying he isn't telling the truth, it's just that he can afford to given the companywide backlash.

Rachel Zegler (I've been spelling her name wrong) is a Broadway star, her breakout was Romeo and Juliet.

I dunno, it may not be her fault, maybe directing her singing has slipped.

This is one of those things where it really would've just been better to use a practical effect and digitally edit it, this just looks lazy.

Honestly I could believe with Rachel she is a decent singer, but directed poorly. Since for movie musicals it really comes down to how the director handles them since even the best singers can do shit with a bad director. Disney is also known for just grabbing random directors since they don't really care for any sort of creative vision.

Especially telling when the director of Snow White is Marc Webb, whose last big mainstream films were the Dogshit Amazing Spider-Man films, has mostly directed TV show episodes, and 5 movies prior to Snow White (including the Spider-Man duology I mentioned).

He has no experience directing musicals, and his only music experience is directing music videos which is different from doing movie musicals.

EDIT: As for Mufasa, yeah its possible it could be acceptable that it being unpopular would allow Disney to not care if the director admits to not giving a shit.

Why is Ben Shapiro Snow White?

Snow White is going to literally bookend Disney cinema, isn't it?

Deadpool and Wolverine and Inside Out 2 have made a billion dollars this year

Moana 2 is also close to making half a billion dollars.

Disney is going to be fine. Like this won't even be the last of the live action remakes because of Lilo & Stitch and Dwayne Johnson's Vanity Project (Moana Remake)
