Nah he took tons of precautions and knew exactly what he was doing. He was using shit like burner phones, paying shit in cash and kept his face masked the entire time he was there. The only way he could've done this any smarter/less riskier would've been to kill the guy from a distance (explosives/sniper rifle) but then he could've just done it at the guys actual house. He deliberately did it in the middle of NYC "to send a message" I guess.
NYC insane data traffic and immense amount of travelers helps anonymize someone. This guy could have also gone the stealth assassin route and popped off execs near their homes or places of work, but he chose a very public spot in manhattan, with cameras, up close and personal with the target, for a reason (possibly maximum media coverage). NYC is very public, but also very anonymous, at the same time.
Iâm curious if Thompson was the only intended target or he just happened to be the first high value UC exec that crossed the Deposerâs path. It was their investors day conference so Iâm sure they had a lot of C-suite executive suits out to glad handle all the little pension fund managers.
Iâm sure the really big UH honchos, or Wiley himself, werenât even there or if they were there it was for âprivate dinnersâ in the evening for the institutional investors, CMS admins and UH board members. Thompson was a rich fuck but he was still sent out at 6 am to fluff up the lower level on âinvestors dayâ. He was a very well paid henchman, but not yet at the top of the totem pole.
The poster who called him âmiddle classâ in regards to his standing in this industry (or wealth in general) was correct. Brian was staying at the mid-town Marriott ffs. UH didnât even spring for a suite at the Ritz or St Regis. A true wealthy elite keeps a private residence in Manhattan, even if they only use it twice a year.
Most people donât seem to grasp how incredibly wealthy the real elites are. Brian was just a cog diligently doing their dirty work in hopes of getting a seat near their table one day. Brian Thompson was a well paid schreibtischtater, thankful for getting the juiciest scraps from the table having the real feast.
