So you're telling me that Russia was the sole reason this barbaric horde was curtailed for 10 years and now that it's otherwise occupied it takes about a week for them to conquer a whole country?

I don't think that's that big of an L some Nafoids are making it out to be.

I don't get that and I see it a lot.
They flooded Europe because of the Arab Spring. Why would they go back to Syria when it's in control of the people they fled from in the first place?

Also you can deport them literally right now. Just cut off their welfare. No more gibz gets the bulk of them leaving on their own.

Hezbollah was a huge part of supporting Assad, too. And Hezbollah was recently crippled when Israel blew up half of their officers' hands/guts with pagers and then blew up a bunch more by invading southern Lebanon. Russia, Iran, and Iranian proxies all being occupied or dead (plus Assad being a bad leader/ruler) resulted in Assad's forces collapsing.

They told us they fled from Assad. So did and still does the media. If his regime ends the reason for being here ends with it.

I obviously know that not one of them will leave unless forced but it helps to open a few eyes that none of this migration was legal.

How exactly? (Serious question.) Didn't they live a relatively normal life in Syria in the past decade? How is the average Syrian going to profit from this? As in real life day to day improvements of living standard etc. Now it's going to be a shithole again. Who the fuck believes in moderate muslims?

Maybe. But at the end of the day who cares. Assad was a fucking terrible ruler, his people hated him and he was propped up by equally terrible allies who did terrible things. Sometimes the pimple needs to be popped. Sure its going to be bloody and rather horrific to look at, but saying that the Skin holding the infection behind it is doing a good job and is beneficial starts to lose its charm as the infection gets worse.

The SAA has evaporated. It no longer exists as a formation in being. The Assad regime has already fallen. At this point we are just waiting for the Coroner to declare it dead. Damascus will be in rebel hands by tomorrow morning. There are rumors of trying to form a rump state in the coastal provinces protected by Russian warships, which I suppose is possible. But may be a losing proposition given the absolute meltdown of the Governments army and the loss of all their military hardware to the Mujahedeen.

They won't have tanks or aircraft now, and Russia is still locked with the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk and Donbass. It cannot redirect air assets to an expeditionary force to secure Tartous. Especially with the Turks having closed the Bosphorus to Russian military shipping due to Russia waging war against a Black Sea country, in accordance with the Montrose convention. Russia also can't just fly new fighter jets to Syria. For one thing they need them to fight Ukraine, and for another they don't have the range to make the journey. What they have in theater is all they will have and the Rebels have overrun all the military airfields they were using.

The final insult will be that the Russian ships stationed at Tartous will have to make the long journey to Murmansk or Saint Petersburg. With absolutely no support. There is not a single country on that trip that will offer them safe harbor to take on food and fuel. The Bongs or the Norwegians might do it if they declare "Mayday", but that would be a humiliation too far. There is not an impossible chance Russia will just scuttle the Mediterranean squadron and evacuate its personnel by air transport. I imagine at least one of those ships is in no condition for the journey.
