They just hakai'd Sonic Shuffle out of existence:
Given that Sonic Dream Team invented its own canon about the dream world that disregards Lumina and Maginaryworld, I'd say it hasn't been canon for a while. The statement is still wrong though because it disregards Sonic and the Secret Rings's stupid party mode that definitely wasn't trying to beat Mario Party to the punch (even though Sega already did this with Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz)
So now that the dust has settled, what are your thoughts on Shadow Generations? I'm disappointed that there are no guns and that the actual Shadow game doesn't have more representation(same with other games, less games should mean 2 or 3 levels per game), but otherwise it looks...good? It's still a boost game, but it seems to have a middle ground where it sometimes feels like a proper Gen 6 or Gen 7 3D Adventure-esque platformer. Might be worth a pirate.
I had fun with Shadow Generations but I feel its overhyped and that Sonic Generations is still better. I wouldn't say the game is anything like an Adventure title though, its still very much a Boost title.

Here's a convo I had when I noticed an... odd comparison during my travels on the internet. So, I asked around, and it turns out it wasn't some weird Mandella Effect, or something.

Please forgive any typos on my part, I have toe-thumbs, and sometimes, it causes me to make typos.

The Evil Magician Guy betraying and killing/trapping a King is one old ass plot. The next thing you know a Dragon will capture The Princess and lock her in a castle.

Dude, don't be dense. That's not the only thing they copied. Going around the place to look for powerful artifacts, taking a full decade to do so, bothing made at around the same time, shall I go on?

You've just described a decent chunk of children's fantasy book series. It's more likely that Ken ripped off whatever his son was reading at the time than it is he played Elder Scrolls.
I know. I'm just pointing out how damn-near identical the two are, and that they were released at the same time, too. And again, you're right cuz Arena started life as a different kind of game altogether, slowly morphing into what we know it as.

But you forgot one detail: Most children's fantasy books don't show the hero spending a decade trying to beat the villian.

Excellent controls and level design, still too short

Yes, please. We're all very concerned about this amazing Elder Scrolls theory. Write an entire essay on it if you want me to take it more seriously.
Nope. You asked who played Arena, and I was gonna answer that. Now you're telling me to pull a whole theory out of my ass, when the only similarities were the release dates, the character roles, the plot, and how long it took in-universe for the villian to be beaten. Like you said, this isn't an entirely original plot in of itself. I just find it curiously coincidental that they both were made at around the same time despite having little else to do with each other. Soooooooo no deal.

fuck off retard no one gives a fuck

You know what's funny? Sonic can have great media outside of games, but Mario's bread and butter IS their games. That Mario movie with Chris Pratt was awful. Meanwhile, I could enjoy Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog for its goofy animation and Sonic Boom for its self-depreciation, self-aware dryness. I'm surprised the first Sonic the Hedgehog live action film did well enough to warrant two sequels.

I still do to this very day. I own the ShoutFactory dvd packs volume 1 and 2 (missing 3, only because the company discontinued it shortly after it was released, so it's considered a "rare" find now), but i know there's like a complete series megapack from a different company that also has the commercial break segment cards, so i might just get that instead.
