Yeah, the Druze formed an entire regiment fighting with the Southern Operations Room and were the ones responsible for taking Suwayda Governorate (which has Druze majority) from the SAA just now. The Southern Front in general was the most tolerant rebel group that wasn't Kurdish and used to have a small Christian component in their ranks (the Jesus Christ Brigade, a subunit of the Sword of al-Sham Brigades). Not sure if they're still around, but these guys were well-received in a majority Christian & Druze suburb of Damascus earlier in the day (Jaramana).

The Druze respect strength; no wonder their coreligionists in Israel immediately recognized the Jewish state after the 1948 War. It will be interesting to see if the ones in the occupied Golan Heights will stick to their Syrian citizenship; they might just see the rebels as legitimately governing Syria post-Assad.

honestly 99% of people only know Assad from the fucking meme, and if you meme a guy as someone that ends up out surviving everyone that says he must go, most people assume he must be a badass. Its literally like how Chuck Norris was assumed to be an awesome dude because of the memes but is a rather bland neo-con.

I assure you most people online and a good chunk of people in this thread only support assad because of the Roko's Basilisk-esque fear of being next on the hit list if you agree that "assad must go"

Syria was a zombified corpse kept alive by Russian and Iranian money/soldiers. The moment that was no longer available due to geopolitical circumstances it was all over. The Assad regime was rotten to the core and the fact it didn't fall in 2012 was due solely to the intervention of Assads patrons. Without them he had nothing.

Of course we are seeing this from the benefit of perfect hindsight.

I'm sure this is what Russia was planning for in Ukraine. Kill the leadership, and hope everything just collapses. With Syria the leadership is technically still there, but I guess that shows how much faith the army and the people had in them.

It's surreal how fast they are giving up, but there is no concept of leadership and loyality with muslims and these people from the ME. It's every man for themselves as soon as it looks dire.

Anyone who has played Crusader Kings has been there. You are fighting the Dissolution faction. You've dunked on them for three fucking years and then they hit you clutch with you at 97% win score. Knock you back down to 37% and then ANOTHER faction decides you are weak and declares war. Besieging your capital while your troops are still retreating from one end of your kingdom to the other.

My current hope is that the jihadis take Damascus and later Syria, get rid of Assad, and then turn on Israel as their holy book commands them to.

Just as they fought back Russia in Afghanistan.

Im just a typical 2015 era or so /pol/fag, why should I hate Assad? Isn't whats coming to replace him just a bunch of brown sand people? I like the idea of rhodesia (a white run country majority low iqs who need help).
