Deadpool and Wolverine and Inside Out 2 have made a billion dollars this year

Moana 2 is also close to making half a billion dollars.

Disney is going to be fine. Like this won't even be the last of the live action remakes because of Lilo & Stitch and Dwayne Johnson's Vanity Project (Moana Remake)
That's Marvel and Pixar, but I concede the point.

Casting ugly people is worse than race-swapping. It's the real issue here. The lady they cast as snow white is ugly. you go for a walk you see prettier women but snow white the character is supposed to be pretty. Same problem with the little mermaid. Hollywood is trying to normalize ugliness.
It's a worse issue that they're ugly on the inside than the outside. These people all show their nastiness in interviews and such.

even Hitler considered it his favorite movie
it is sort of funny finding out all these powerful world leaders have such generic tastes, it would be like finding out Kamala Harris really loved the big bang theory and her favorite film is the avengers.

At least Bill Clinton was trashy enough to have seen Police Academy 5 and 6, and is quite the arts guy. Trump used to review movies too, he's a big fan of Citizen Kane and owns the cane from it.

despite that he voiced Mickey himself for the longest time.
its crazy finding that out, a 3 pack a day smoker from age 12 onwards voiced the most iconic high pitched character of all time.

honestly Gal Gadot would have been a better pick for snow white, imagine they made this movie 15 years ago with a younger Gal. it would have done way better. If you watch those behind the scenes gifs on /tv/ its obvious she's all smiles and fun and its rather telling how garbage the movie industry is that they can't show that.

Someone said it recently but its true that no one seems to smile anymore in films, you have tons of snark but way fewer people just smiling the way they constantly did in films. Dumb and Dumber was like all smiles even during attempted rape scenes, now no ones smiling.

Gadot is a stunning looking woman but she can't really act or sing much less get rid of her harsh Israeli accent, which is the most practical problem of her being cast as the Evil Queen. As YMS says, you need people accomplished in musical theater in this kind of production, people who can sing and act. Zegler's in this because she's a 'known' actress with that skill, but she's also an arrogant fool hence the controversy.

you dub the singing and i honestly dont remember snow white having that many lines, the midgets did most of the heavy work. plus with her being so tall you can probably pull off that forced perspective bullshit a lot easier. i know people whine about dubbing in singers, oh fuckin well. its a lot easier to dub the voice than find a good looking singer that doesn't come off like a cunt apparently.

She'd have been a prettier Snow White for sure, and that would probably be an improvement over Zigler, but the movie would probably still suck because despite being pretty, Gal Gadot isn't a great actress, and she barely speaks English well even today.

Edit: Apologies, I made this reply before I read that you had already said pretty much the exact same thing before. I will happily accept my clocks~

Just like the uglification of women in video games it's a psyop to try and make troons acceptable to the masses.

a llama that threw a rock at John Goodman.
from the director of The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down A Mountain
in select theaters this spring
yeah but it would have been a funnier movie if they had
imagine a guy being lynched whilst the funny little animal characters are all singing and shit
woodland critters singing along backup for the klansmen and their rousing showtune Y'Ain't From `Round Here Are Ya, Boy? which sadly was denied the Oscar that year

Sure, but that interview came long after the reaction of the first teaser.

I'm not saying he isn't telling the truth, it's just that he can afford to given the companywide backlash.

Rachel Zegler (I've been spelling her name wrong) is a Broadway star, her breakout was Romeo and Juliet.

I dunno, it may not be her fault, maybe directing her singing has slipped.
There have been some early reviews of mufasa that were scattered across the year from testing audiences and even a few people who saw a good chunk of the movie about a few weeks ago.

From what I've seen, it's been strongly on the positive side, with the main praise going for the story and the songs.

My only problem is that mufasa is a metaphorical softball because the original 2019 remake was such a drab and lethargic slog that anything that is somewhat competent especially coming after wish and Moana 2 will shine in comparison

My concern (along with cynical YouTuber critics) is that it subverts the original Lion King by making Scar (named Taka or something) a tragic anti-hero and making Mustafa the real villain, and it's a relatively pointless prequel because none of the main cast can actually face any meaningful peril. I'd like to be suprised.

I've not seen the first Moana, everybody said it was 'meh' at the time, would you recommend it?

From what I've managed to piece together, it seems like the script by Jenkins seems fairly competent and dare I even say a bit compelling.

Mufasa does actually come from a family, but they end up getting killed in a massive flood which causes him to drift into Scar's families pride .

However, there are these two wandering male lions that are trying to dominate Kenya end up killing Scar's and essentially turns both of the brothers into orphan and they sort of end up forming their own pseudo pride.

Scar himself is essentially presented as a very well meaning yet entitled version of younger Simba from the OG movie where everything he does kind of has a bit of a condescending tone and he wants to force his will onto others even if he doesn't realize it.

Mufasa by comparison does a lot of uplifting and is pretty earnest which causes people to be more accepting of him as a whole.

This is just based off of first impression, but the script alone feels a lot more compelling than 95% of Disney's current output and the biggest shame is that this wasn't traditionally animated but I guess that's to be expected.

Also yeah, I think Moana 2016 is a good movie and is an example of what Disney could have done instead of going through these weird corporate and diversity quotas.

I like the music and the animation a lot personally

It's literally historical revisionism. I know you've got a movie to flog and gay men love musicals, but come on, why do you have to tell such an obvious fucking lie?
I think it's almost entirely just because Judy Garland starred in it and was always a huge gay icon.

Casting an obvious Jewish stereotype as the Evil Queen.

Are they trying to say something?

So I recently watched Cruella the movie...and I don't get it.

It has great costumes, scenes and Emma Thompson is a great as Baroness von Hellman but it doesn't fit into the 101 Dalmatian universe. Cruella isn't punk and she isn't someone to feel sorry for and neither are her henchmen. Glenn Close embodied her perfectly. She doesn't need a tragic backstory, we don't need to see her parents and how she met Jasper and Horace. It works much better when they are just two criminals she hired to do the dirty work instead of them being childhood friends. What a dumb idea.

I think the movie got it entirely wrong - Cruella should have been the villain. The story should have been about a young woman who wants to take revenge on her. The Baroness should have been a second antagonist or a minor side character.

But the movie has no place in the canon. It's not the animated Cruella because movie takes place in the late 50s or early 60. It's not the 101/102 Dalmatians live action Cruella because she is an older woman and can't be Anitas schoolmate...and also Anita is white. It's not Cruella from the cartoon shows either. This Cruella is a new character from a new alternative universe and entirely unecessary.

Also congrats everyone for 11.000 posts! Fuck Disney!
