MMOs would be the crack if video games were drugs, they have this addictive property (more addictive than the other types, apparently). It might be the reward system your brain sets up, the goals (that people with lives can never meet), maybe it's the social aspects. I don't know. I never really played any of them, I played RIFT for two days as a timesink during my vacation a couple weeks ago, but I never really got serious. However, there is this game, the original doesn't exist anymore, but a team reversed engineered it, and a version exists on the internet. It's called Star Wars Galaxies. It might not be the best choice, but I have an interest in the subject matter and I can't afford anything like WoW ATM. It's a unique MMO, one of them player run games, players run the economy, build towns, etc. And I'll be playing using SWGemu; I can't find a full version online, so I bought a copy off eBay. When it arrives, I'll play it everyday, for a month even if I don't want to, as much as I feel inclined to play (and that my schedule allows). I'm going to try to find out what's up with MMOs and why they're so addictive, and in some parts of the gaming community or the internet itself, have a negative stigma surrounding them. I know stuff like this has been done before but everyone is different and I want to see what it'll do to me.
