It was a woman complaining that whenever she went to youtube/tiktok for makeup tutorials, she'd increasingly find search results dominated by men. Mostly drag queens, but also troons and regular old gays. Aside from the obvious targeting of boys, she realized that a generation of girls are growing up learning makeup styles from male fetishists.

I just tried it out on youtube. VPN, cleaned cache, everything, only girls in the first results.

I hadn't tried it myself, but just did "makeup tutorial", "makeup guide", and "makeup help" in a browser that isn't sterile but never gets used for youtube (that one's adblock breaks it).

- "Tutorial" returned what appeared to be 7-8 girls (possibly a heavily filtered troon in there but nothing obvious) before the monstrosity NikkieTutorials below. The actual girls did have a few "how to be a baddie" hooers which is unfortunate, but also some "natural look" types that seemed innocent enough.

- "Guide" returned one sponsored video, one girl, and then James Charles below, followed by a "Shorts" panel with another homosexual

- "Help" returned a sponsored video and then the James again (no I hadn't clicked any videos from the prior searches)

Repeating this in a fresh private browsing instance gave me a Shorts panel with a homosexual, and then a bunch of Arab/Middle Eastern girls...I was not using a location-linked VPN but it seemed to think that's what I wanted. Interesting that there was less troonery but still a gay mixed in.

Doing it again in a private, Tor browser shifted it to lots of celebrity results (Rihanna, Arianna Grande, etc). All (apparent) girls under "Tutorial", then "Guide" returned the same James Charles video about 4 results down, and "Help" put his video first, then a few girls, then a Shorts panel with the Nikkie troon.

In any case, Nathan's behaviour is natural. He tones up the flamboyancy a bit, but that's who he is. Just like Sofia Vergara's "loud Latina" is based on herself, but she still is playing a character for the cameras for the role she is playing (the "loud Latina"). Jazz still needs "Sparkles" as a way to be his own person.

I think, this has a lot to do with him being raised watching drag and thinking people needs these types of "extra" personas to be ourself. Maybe someone wearing some new elegant clothes for a job interview can give you a bit of confidence, but that's not the same as being drag. Jazz and the Jennings are very performative, you really can't tell what's real or not, but at least Ari and Griffin have real lives. Sander and Jazz can only operate while on cameras.

I haven't seen much of the show, so I don't know what Ari's overall views are (in the clips/reactions I've seen she was mostly absent at college), but I did feel for her a bit when the Smithsonian put Jazz in their "American womanhood" display.

That must've been the icing on the cake after years of Jeanette's seal-clapping and an entire TV crew's fawning over all of Jazz's "girlhood" milestones, with Ari off to the side as an actual girl with actual female experiences and challenges.
