Idk, could be that the man’s wife wasn’t comfortable with it, could be that he was not comfortable with it, could he the utter strangeness of having another man’s dick grafted on and having the dang thing respond to stimulation even though the recipient can’t feel anything… it would be a very strange experience even if the eh, “color matching” is spot on.That's interesting. The article doesn't make it clear who had the "psychological issue", it actually makes it sound like it was his wife, I wonder if the wife freaked out when she saw it?
Maybe the guy got freaked out everytime he went for a piss seeing someone elses dick?It makes me think of an old Weird Tales story I read "Stranglers Hand" where a guy hand his hand crushed in a Die Stamp machine, and had a hand transplant. The transplant went well but then the guys hand started grabbing people by itself, then it tried to strangle his wife while he was asleep, and when he went to find out where the hand came from (at first the doctors wouldn't tell him so he snuck into the office to read his records) it turns out his hand was taken from a convicted strangler who had been executed after killing 8 women.
Creepy story, just fiction I believe but makes me wonder if there's any part of the donor gets carried over... like if you transplant a penis from a gay dude will the recipient start having homosexual feelingsprobably not but it would make a great story.
I would imagine that the psych distress that guy experienced, which caused him to have the graft removed, was similar to the kind of difficulties people have when they receive transplanted faces. But transplanted faces have more utility, because recipients can regain function like chewing, swallowing, talking, psych benefits from no longer looking like a horrible monster, and so on.
The penis transplant protocols currently available are written for cisgender men, and I agree that there's ligaments and muscles under the skin that anchor the penis in the way a rotdog isn't, that's why the rotdogs always look like someone hot glued a pale Lyon sausage to a young woman's mons.I could see how a transplant on a man could work as long as theres enough there at the base to transplant it to, its totally different from trying to make a facsimile from fat and skin from an arm, I don't think the transplant idea would work on a wonan though as theres nothing there to transplant it too, theres none of the original structure to work with.
Plus you'd probably have to take immunosuppressants and anti rejection drugs for the rest of your life, from what I read it seems even the "sucessful" transplants are still prone to spontaneous rejection, even years down the road
