He was in good shape, had back problems and was interested in Pokemon, if his twitter images are anything to go by

I’m assuming it was dealing with his fusion and the recovery and whole process that pushed him to it plus his Uncle Ted off the grid Ivy League mind, and breloom is an underrated Pokemon

He had 5 days to get rid of the gun and fake ID. He wanted to get caught, I guess..? Ah I am so disappointed now. I wanted him to make it.
Yeah, that seems weird if he wanted to get away with it. He got rid the backpack, but kept the gun? This is a guy who obviously did a lot of planning. When the gun jammed, he knew immediately how to clear it, and calmly kept shooting rather than freak out and run, so he seemed to know what he was doing. Yet he ignores the first rule of getting away with a homicide?...you ditch the weapon. And he keeps a bunch of fake IDs on him and he has nearly a week to get away and go anywhere but he only went ONE state over?

If someone had written a novel or an episode of a TV crime drama that featured the perpetrator of a well publicized murder getting caught they way this guy supposedly did, I'd say it was ridiculously lazy writing, because at the very least, the guy who commited what appeared to be well planned killing, would at the very least, not keep the gun!
So if it's really him, and it's looking like it was, I think this was all by design and he was trying to get caught.

It's started.
