UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot outside Hilton hotel in Midtown in targeted attack: cops - Just Part and Parcel of visiting a Big City

Been deranged watching some right wingers on twitter carry on about how glorious and important our insurance companies are and that it truly is great for them to deny claims.

They were pushing the theory that it was typical leftist murderous rage, now have to pivot to the smart, successful, and handsome chad must have been some sort of trust fund failson. It's like they're in heavy denial that an insurance exec could be viewed by healthy normal people as an evil piece of shit.

I guarantee most doctors that have worked with UHC have at least one unsent e-mail in their outlook that more or less says the same thing. This guy was actually restrained with what he wrote compared to most healthcare providers I know. I can tell you, with absolute 100% certainty, that Zofran (Onsansetron) is specifically approved by the FDA for pediatric chemotherapeutic nausea and vomiting prophylaxis (preventing it from happening). It's patent was actually specifically extended for this specific use as a first-in-class approval for this type of drug.

UHC is known for being well and truly evil, even among healthcare insurers.

If we exclude the insurance ceo, it was a totally victimless public protest.
If you include the insurance CEO, it's still victimless.

Called it.
Yeah, but somebody will STILL be along shortly to tell everybody it was a Brügger and Thomet VP9.

Hell, somebody still did it even today in this thread.

Firstly: Kiwifarms got this info first - every screenshot on tweeter I have seen has these replies with thousands of retweets and views and bullshit. "news happens on X" - no niggers + elon musk, news happens here.

Some archive screenshots of the guy who said he wanted to know if he was actually coming to the wedding. He linked to Luigi's linktree which has since been wiped - there is no archived copy of it, so no one knows what was on it.

Spinal fusions are bad news and require revisions frequently, while often not resolving the original pain. They are a surgery that is frequently billed without being really needed, because of "eat what you kill" style policies. This guy was actually, shockingly, mad because of something that is likely doctors' fault. I wonder if the thing he didn't get covered by insurance was a second opinion that could have given him alternatives to this life-limiting surgery.

If he's smart, he'll go affirmative defense. The defense: "He fucking deserved it! " He'll never be convicted.
I'm willing to bet that he will plead guilty.
And his lawyer will argue for a shorter sentence based on psychedelic drug use + bad back surgery and also mental health issues.

back/neck pain will make you go coo coo

Anyone that has had to go through it will tell you this is 100% true.

Even as someone in healthcare, I have a continuing issue with my lumbar spine that at its worst keeps me in bed, flat on my back for 24 hours at a minimum. So, even people in healthcare with the resources at their disposal, suffer just the same as anyone else that has the same issue. We have no better solutions than anyone else.

Back and neck pain are some of the great equalizers.

Conservatives rallying against him probably killed whatever good will they had with the general public.
Nothing is worse for optics than executing a martyr of the people you're trying to appeal to, specially when he was on your side

Jesus has been proving that for 2000 years. Shows that no one learns shit.

Is it possible that UHG cheaped out and gave him some shitty tier back surgery or some shit? I've read some anecdotes that people that have back/spine surgery can go a bit nuts.
But still to me it feels like he was angry/sad about society as a whole rather than having a gripe with medical insurance providers in specific - he just chose to act out against arguably the most responsible person at the worst health insurance company to ever exist.

Right-wing sentiment over the matter seems somewhat divided, the more "mainstream" crowd is more outraged while the populist camp is indifferent or defend the gunman.
