Yep. They operate under the logic that cartoonists/animators don't need no art classes because, well, cartoons don't look like that realistic junk they teach you in Figure Drawing! The reality is that most cartoonists and animators use what they learn in those classes to decide exactly HOW they're going to make appealing exaggerated character designs. It
teaches them color coordination to make it all looking visually appealing to the eye, and the basic structure of anatomy so that they can properly 'move' their characters. Since Tumblr artists often lack this, you see a lot of common glaring flaws like poor color coordination and nonsensically unappealing anatomy.
That actually does raise a question for me, actually. Mandarys, could you tell us anything about Shmorky's education in the arts? Is he a learn from home artist, or did he ever take any actual art classes?
