The Game Awards 2024 (December 12) - Its 10 year anniversary

You forgot to consider that Jake and his og buddies are no longer in Firaxis after the double shitshows of Chimera Squad and Marvel: Midnight Suns.
Chimera squad was gay but fun, but I'd rather replay tactical breach wizards, which is unfortunately gayer but more fun.
I actually lost a character permanently on my first and only playthrough of chimera squad. I don't know how. He was just deleted from the game and the only way to fix it would be a hard restart and fuck that shit.

I knew there was something wrong with tactical breach wizards, glad I didn't buy it.

Also, Phoenix Point fags are still on copium after their "darling" only had a good faction system while forgetting how the devs screwed over their backers after the Epic exclusive shitfest and the fact that everything else felt half-baked.

Oh yeah, you play as a fuckin lesbian witch who keeps a fag pride flag on her suitcase, a black Mama's boy with an old black mom, a lesbian with a gun, a sheboon who fights cops and I think some other guy I'm forgetting idk. It's pretty fuckin woke.

by talking about how the original is "outdated" and praised the 10/10 demake for "updating" the game.
The only aspect that was better in the remake is separate ways, but that’s a given considering the original version was mediocre at best.
There are two wolves inside me.
One wants xcom 3 to be announced.
The other knows it'll be woke slop when it does.
That’s how it goes with most games. The only truly pure game I want to be announced is Nier 3, because that would be certified kino, but that won’t happen for another decade.

Separate Ways was free for versions that had it(so pretty much every one aside from GC original), meanwhile demake one is a paid DLC. Even Merc mode didn't come at launch.
Let's not forget the cut boss fight that Capcom saved for the DLC. It's pathetic anyone defends this piece of shit, especially with the horrid VA compared to original.

I haven't heard of any of this, I do know Phoenix Point can be considered a proper Tactics game where as the nu-XCOM games are so watered down that it borders the line on casual at times. I haven't met anyone who played the original XCOM that liked the rebooted ones, I will say that.

And it's easy to think you'd be able to identify shit games, but that's because you grew up playing good games.
There was plenty of trash, Blockbuster was a gamble each and every time because you only had the box to judge on. I remember really hating Aero the Acrobat, it was disappointing as hell because I was a sucker for mascot platformers.

Like, can't they look at Mario Odyssey, then back at Concord, and put 2+2 together? That they're playing slop? Maybe not if all they have is PlayStation, I guess.

We can assume the development cost was roughly 100m
According to an IGN video (I know), the minimum budget for modern AAA games is about 200m, so I doubt that. Traditionally, marketing is considered to match the production budget, at least in film, but maybe games are less marketed, so $300-$400m.

If this woke hell ever passes I'll be so damn glad.

Incidentally, re5 sucks, re6 is just retarded, and I don't care about the rest of the series. But I'm sure there are many who miss the classic ps1 games. I can relate.
I have a soft spot for RE5. Hugely underrated imo. I also miss classic PS1 survival horror, and it's unfortunate that many indie attempts miss the mark so bad.

RE7 might be of interest to you. Once you get past the intro and get to the house proper (the dinner scene) then it's very much a throwback to old Resident Evils.

I'm not even proving a "case", there's no case to be proven since I'm talking about how trends are and what will be 10 years from now. You could literally pick any shit game from today and you'll have people praising it because of the nostalgia/memories in 10 years.

If you want any proof of this, you can look at the Zelda cycle, you can look at the people who fondly remember 3D Mortal Kombat today. There's endless examples of this, Starfield wasn't a proof of a point but meant to be a hyperbolic example of what happens thanks to nostalgia.

The fact you ignore the point because of a hatred of a game is a great example of why I take Kiwifarms taste and opinions at arms length though. "I'd agree with you if you just picked a game I don't hate." lol, lmao even.
Mortal Kombat and Zelda are bad examples because of the fanbases of those games. Nintendrones will gulp any slop Nintendo puts out provided they throw in some reference to NES era nostalgia. Some 3D Mortal Kombat games were good, and some 2D ones were awful.

And while this is an unpopular opinion, Skyrim and Fallout 4 were massive improvements over what came before in many ways. I might love New Vegas, but to normies the jank and constant technical issues ruin it for them, which Fallout 4 doesn't have. The same can't be said for Starfield. It makes a good first impression, but even the normies soon find the game hollow.

We can assume the development cost was roughly 100m, let's say another 100m for advertising, which still leaves an estimated ~200-300m net profit for re4 remake. That is a clear indicator to Capcom that they should continue making games like it. They will do that, people will buy them, but I will not. That's all I'm saying.
Maybe. But given we're seeing AAA gaming burn to the ground, and given the track record of AAA publishers considering profitable games a failure because it didn't make Call of Duty or GTA money, I'm not so sure.

Half of that money goes to publishers for the dubious responsibility of sucking the games cock and pushing it to people. Capcom doesn't have that problem, their operations are centralized and profitability is maximized, like Nintendo.

For some reason, The Game Awards is reminding me that I’ve gone back to the year of 2012

Couldn't assuming publishing duties actually be more expensive than letting another company do it? It probably depends on a case-by-case basis, which is why sometimes Square will hand publishing rights to a company like Nintendo instead of doing it themselves. I'm not really sure though.

I’m making a prediction that Black Myth: Wukong will be snubbed entirely in favor of the new Dragon Age game that came out recently.
Surprisingly I don't think DA:TV is even in the running for GOTY. It will probably win everything is is nominated for though, to compensate, and Wukong & Stellar Blade will win nothing.

The thing is when one looks at the GOTY nominees, I would not be shocked if Astro Bot or FFVII Rebirth get the top prize. Though, just seeing the trend of DA: Veilguard get more attention than Stellar Blade speaks volume as to how the industry is at a turning point, closing onto the mid-2020’s.

The final nominees of Players' Choice are Black Myth Wukong, Shadow of the Erdtree and 3 other gachas, cucking out Stellar Blade and Space Marine II.

I'm getting gacha fatigue here.
The gacha fans will tear each other apart to get whatever premium currency their preferred game bestows upon them should it win.

Stellar Blade and Astro Bot were robbed.
