UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot outside Hilton hotel in Midtown in targeted attack: cops - Just Part and Parcel of visiting a Big City

If you are cheering on the media, ceos, and corporations who want this guy made an example of, congrats, you're part of the problem, you're part of the swamp MAGA is working to drain.
I cannot believe you'd need a political alignment to determine on whether a CEO is ethically moral/right with their decisions against the public. That's what has been destroying domestic political interests in this country for decades. That's why the American Right couldn't be taken seriously; they'd rather be pro-war, pro-corporation lobbyists/advocates than be avid representatives for the American people when said corporations become greedy bastards.

Yeah, I think it highly unlikely, but the possibility does exist. Montreal still has Italian mob as a a force to be reckoned with, for instance.
So does Ballmer.

Isn't doing any kind of degree in Ivy League means that they are going to pass you even if you are an absolute retard?
He wasn't an intellectual retard. He was valedictorian at his pricey high school. If he was mid in college, could be for any number of reasons, but he was apparently decent enough to TA and complete his master's. And decent enough to get hired by a small public company, but maybe not decent enough to survive his company's contraction.

Looking at the whole picture, I just think he wanted to get caught.
All he had to do was call 911 if he wanted to be caught.

idk - I kind of question why this objectively evil CEO didn't have more attention around him. Why weren't YouTubers like fucking Penguinz0 and whatever other milquetoast faggots roasting this guy over the coals years ago?

I hear far more people talking about niggas like Bill Gates and whoever else but not the guy who is the CEO of the most evil health insurance company around? With the highest rejection rates?

[...] how is that this objectively piece of shit health insurance CEO from literally the worst and largest company in the industry have almost zero pushback or people highlighting that he even existed in the first place?

He was not the top dog at the organization (UHG). Witty, and before him, Hemsley and McGuire, were. And even Hemsley* and Witty were very deliberately low-key publicly. That's not to say he didn't drive things at UHC or wasn't accountable for decisions. But for perspective, he showed up as the last name on the list of appointed executive officers in the most recent UNH (UHG) 10-K.

*actual billionaire, culture-setter, still a Board member, and complete asshole

It is very much like Crime and Punishment but without Raskolinikov being poor.
Poverty was a part of Raskolnikov's gripe, but so was being overeducated with nothing actually to do with that education, and without a desire for mindless hedonism.

So much of vanguard Soviet Communism came with exactly that combination.

That's a fair argument but even then Andrew Witty (the evil as fuck British head CEO faggot) is only getting extreme negative flak/attention after the shooting happened?

Like think about it this way: the whole of gamergate people mobilized and contacted advertisers and ruined people's reputations (rightfully or not) and coordinated shit and pointed out that certain CEOs were faggots and all of that shit - but when it isn't about Call of Duty 18: Puppy Warfare or their funkopop collection and relates to actual life/death matters of pretty objectively the worst, most exploitive health insurance company in the USA no one does shit?

Even outside of gamergate people went nuts about fucking bud light and their stupid beer can LBTWGWTQUJ2AS+ drama and dunked their share price and market share like fuck - but still nothing about these guys?

And I guess part of the reason is obvious. These c-level faggots hide away and don't do interviews or make themselves available and accessible for people to shit on them in the first place.

So a lot of the argument/attention with all this is that the government needs to change and the healthcare industry needs to change - but its very obvious that people need to change too and instead of masturbating while unboxing a new funko pop people should be paying actual attention to shit like this.

What do you think happens in prison? They just sit around playing cards?
Mostly, yeah. They play Spades and other shit. Prison isn't Oz. Some of them even play chess.
This is so fucking retarded. I hate it when journoscum or others sensationalize the fact that someone is reading, or wants to read Mein Kampf.
Everyone should read Mein Kampf and everyone should watch Die Triumph des Willens by Leni Riefenstahl. Actually, especially the latter, because Mein Kampf is full of self-pitying maundering, while once you watch Riefenstahl's classic political rally documentary, you will never view another in the real world, in your own country, in the same way.

Seriously, Leni nailed that. Every single political rally after it nakedly steals from the methods Hitler used.

Raskolnikov had means and options, he really just wanted to put his ideals and intellect to the test.
Evidently I am the first to face it with such brutal honesty.
But when pressed, he seemed to have trouble even explaining his ideals coherently.
Obviously the problem is more complex, but I do not have space, and frankly I do not pretend to be the most qualified person to lay out the full argument.

It's kinda poetic how this played out.
CEO of modest origins betrayed his economic class for profit and high status.
Tech guy born into status and wealth gives up any chance of living that life of high status for purpose and principle for the befit of the whole.
Only to be outed by some Minimum wage worker who betrays him for a tiny fraction of the wealth that both the CEO and his Assassin had access to.

I don't understand why people even try to use Luigi's wealthy upbringing against him.
It's not like he chose to be born into wealth however despite that he chose a righteous path that he probably knew would forsake those comforts and means that he previously had.
Even if Psychedelics and Chronic Pain might've driven him mad he still chose the path of the righteous instead of trying to live in relative comfort.

We are a site of many political opinions - some hate trannies, some love 'em. Some believe we shouldn't bomb sand niggers, others are mad it's the Jews doing it. Some are left, some are right, some are in the centre, and some are secret third things.

But we can all agree the commercialisation of healthcare is a disaster for anyone who has to live under it. People's health aren't something you can assign value to, nor can you compare one person's cancer to another and question if they really need it cured. You can't force someone to live in agony as you decide if their life is worth paying for, and still force them to keep paying you for the hope that one day you'll allow them to live the same as everyone else.

You can't profit from people's suffering and then deny their right to respond in kind. If you profit so egregiously, so grossly and so brazenly, all the while preventing people's human right to live - you deserve to feel the pain every person under your thumb has felt. I only wish Brian Thompson had been forced to suffer, like how he forced every patient to wait in agony on gurneys waiting for an "authorisation", like how he forced every patient in the back of an ambulance to suffer as they searched for a hospital that was "in-network", like how he forced every patient to resort to taking their own life just to no longer live in pain.

I was that person in the back of the Ambulance, in a country not my own, not knowing who my insurance provider was. Four hospitals refused to take me in without me knowing what "network" I was in. Brigham Women's was the only one to not care for insurance, and save my life. That didn't stop UHC agents from nailing a collection notice for $35 on the doorframe of my still heavily fire-damaged home. If you want to do some good, please consider donating to Brigham. Bonus points if you do it in honour of Brian, Luigi or Josh Moon.

The fact Luigi is hot is just a bonus. Maybe things will go back to normal after the trial, maybe they'll just keep denying as many cases as they did before. It's tragic there is really so little the average American to do to change their destiny, and to change the country for the better, but I hold that hope that America will finally unite, just for a little bit, to tell the greedy who exploit the lame and the sick that enough is enough.

"The right" has only gained power because "the left" has forgotten about these people, who are everywhere and suffering. But if you choose to stand in the way of the people, you shall be shoved out of the way.
So sick of "muh team" bullshit when we all have so many shared issues in common and we're ALL getting fucking dicked.
In yet another demonstration of what they really think of any commoner dumb enough to unironically shill for & support them, TPTB is now trying to get out of paying the reward money to the snitch. (Archive)
Does it need to be said again? "YOU GET WHAT YOU FUCKING DESERVE!"

Mangione's lawyer says he told his client to be quiet during hearing earlier today

From CNN's Elise Hammond
Luigi Mangione’s defense attorney said he told his client to be quiet while they were in court for an extradition hearing in Pennsylvania this afternoon.

Defense lawyer Tom Dickey said Mangione, who is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, “shut his mouth” after he told him to keep quiet.

“Which is good, that’s what he needs to do,” Dickey said, adding that his comment to his client came after he thought he heard his voice.

Asked if he was aware of what Mangione yelled as he arrived to court this afternoon, Dickey said that he “heard some different versions of that, so I need to see what that statement was.”

“Hopefully there won’t be anymore of that,” he said.

Mangione could be heard yelling, in part, “it’s completely out of touch and an insult to the intelligence of the American people. It’s lived experience” as he was being escorted out of the car and into the building.

Defense attorney anticipates not guilty plea for Luigi Mangione's murder charge

Defense attorney Tom Dickey said he anticipates a not guilty plea for Luigi Mangione’s murder charge

“From what I’ve seen, up to this point, he hasn’t been charged with that,” Dickey said. “I don’t really want to speculate, but if in fact that would happen, I would anticipate a plea of not guilty.”

Dickey also said it’s “a possibility” he could represent Mangione in New York.

The defense attorney for the suspect in the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO said he believes the judge in the case should have set bail for his client.

At an extradition hearing earlier today, the judge denied bail to Luigi Mangione. His lawyer, Tom Dickey, argued that in Pennsylvania, most crimes are a “bailable offense” which means “you have to set some form of bail,” with the exception of capital cases.

Mangione faces a second degree murder charge, among others in New York, as well as charges in Pennsylvania related to a gun and fake ID police found when they arrested him.

“To simply say no bail, with all due respect to the judge, I believe bail should have been set,” Dickey told reporters on Tuesday.
“The judge could set $1 million bail. It could be $5 million bail, but damn it, you get bail. That’s what you do,” he said.

I’m just saying I can believe he got frustrated with all the ins and outs of 3D printing and firearm design, found it was becoming a rabbit hole that was delaying his mission, and called it good enough. Combined with having to test it surreptitiously for every iteration, if that’s not your hobby it probably gets old.

That doesn’t make him a retard, it does mean he half assed it and started with assumptions above his ability level, but hey, it still did the job. The same could be said of his entire planning and execution - lots of forethought, fucked up a few important details, still more or less achieved the goal.
Brian Thompson could have taken off in a dead sprint and escaped after being shot. People react differently, but it turns out he just thought he might needed knee surgery.
Even if he had the surprise advantage, there was no way he could have predicted how he would react.
I doubt that Luigi could have hit a moving target having no experience with firearms, so you replace accuracy with volume of fire.
Some of his plan is great and worked, but others are so barebones and lacking that we are questioning if he even wants to escape.

I mean he knew when and where the CEO was gonna be at and leave to the tee. That does take some social engineering, to some degree, to acquire that information.
Yet, he doesn't change his clothes or appearance at all? He isn't aware of the footage they will be rolling non-stop after he kills a CEO in cold-blood?'
It's more or less as simple as Mark Goldbridge says:
Changing clothes just before and just after the shooting means guaranteed no arrest.
OR
Getting as far away from America as possible means guaranteed no arrest.
OR
Not having his phone on him during the shooting and then slightly changing his physical appearance means guaranteed no arrest.
OR
Avoiding cameras a day before and a day after shooting with a planned escape and entry route means guaranteed no arrest.
