What was even worse this season is there was no "Put Fatty Away" toy for Tryll and production never once muzzled him.

Which made no sense because they had the put fatty away toy in season 2.5 and it was hilarious when used. It seems like they just let fatty do whatever this season.

All the main criticisms if S1 eps were covered over a year ago but I am reminded that they are missing so much which makes it tough to show to anyone who didn't watch the season live.

Jon coming late and spoiling bits of the show, then identifying Damiel as a production plant is skipped but we instead have Sam throwing wings down the sink in annoyance. Episode has them suddenly doing karaoke before reading from Simmons book, but left out that production set up karaoke just to have Sam laugh at Simmons because his book says having his family laugh at karoke was one of the most upsetting things that ever happened to him.

Then just the context of Jon going from extremely well liked by the audience to refusing to participate and losing that favor, mutually agreeing to get eliminated. The gradual increase and extent to which Letty was disliked by everyone. Lots of Lance and Vance moments skipped. Just too many little things like that, in addition to being hard to follow and jumping around a lot.

e: I don't follow fish much after their seasons, but from what I have seen Mizzy is pandering in a way where she seems legitimately happy to be FT alumni and is enjoying the community. Binx is pandering in a way where she seems quite unhappy to be FT alumni and having to deal with the community, and is also plagued by weird tech issues that BongZaRippa cannot sweep up for her despite supposedly having done this for over a year before the season started. Sad!

Like Big Brother, 95% of the show is lost media if you aren’t watching live and not only are the edits are incredibly misleading as to what was going on; they leave the majority of good content out and twist context for a narrative that at best didn’t really happen that way and at worst is outright lying to the viewer.

Season 1 is very poorly archived and very messily so. You have to sort through thousands of clips to find moments. None of them are named you just have to know what time something you liked happened and find that date and timecode.

Season 2 is well archived but the Fishtank site doesn't load clips properly half of the time when you are trying to access them so it's iffy. A massive upgrade from season 1 though.

Season 3 doesn't have archives yet.

To me Fish Tank aligns with content he always put out. He is a child of the internet, and thats the target demographic for Fish Tank. I always thought his "self help" arc was just a grift, a method to get back into the algorithm. If youre lost enough that his rambling while eating and playing Fallout helps you in some way. Thats great. Take the advice and run with it. But dont look to him as your compass on anything.

He loves Fish Tank.

I enjoyed that one stream where he talked about the principles of design and such. He provided a few books to read as well. I hope he does more graphics cuts because they're always 10/10.

Frank isn't for everyone but even his harshest critics have to admit he was excellent this season. His bit worked really really well with Alex and Burt he was able to even get Binx and Payton to be active for the only time during their stay in the tank. Production also seems to have a really good gauge as to how much Hassle is too much Frank Hassle, let him come in raise hell into a crescendo and then have him leave. This aspect is what I admire most about Frank's time, and it highlights how awful the amount of time fatty is kept on the show is.

Depends on what you mean by excellent. The Frank Hassle we’ve seen this season is the same he’s been from the others seasons. It’s the same rehashed thing over and over again. In the case of wild randy with Alex and being Burt’s lover he did well in making content, but I don’t think that’s because of his personal skill. You could do any gaslight with Burt and Alex and they’d fall for it. They were extremely easy to manipulate and their reactions were usually golden no matter what. Even in these heavily favorable conditions he rushed through both the wild randy reveal and the reveal to Burt, although one could argue those were both faults of wigger overreach.

So outside of those two examples in which Frank was basically hassling on easy mode, what did he really do? He made the Fish rage, he would get shoved, and occasionally he would get punched. All of these things have happened in previous seasons. All of these things had no lasting impact. He also fell down one time, but again this has happened in previous season. It’s the equivalent of a rerun episode. Some might argue he made Fish leave and that has to count for something, but making Fish leave is a breeding ground for nontent and show stagnation.

Frank has actively taken away from the show and has derailed things completely. As production you cannot introduce an extremely hostile force, be incredibly biased towards said force, and then expect the Fish to go back to normal after that force leaves. Either the Fish will all bond together because of Frank, therefore derailing any previous sense of tension present within the dynamics between Fish e.g. Simbal went from being a major antagonist to barely being thought about, or the Fish will just go completely silent to avoid further harassment and to preserve their energy. There is no win condition.

He’s excellent at pissing the Fish off, but are the payoffs and risks worth it? does pissing the Fish off even lead to decent content when compared to other less aggressive methods? When the Fish are happy they are unpredictable in their reactions. Pissing the Fish off will almost always lead to the same stuff, regardless of personality. Unaffected, punch, push, yell, or leave. Hassle is too limiting and the content he makes comes at the cost of long-term show quality.

Duanye in season 2 I still think is the greatest ever freeloader and did a great job antagonizing the both audience AND other fish (especially Trish) and carried the later part of the season while the real contestants mostly moped around doing nothing.

You can't bring Duanye back though because his performance was lightning in a bottle and after the show the facade is dropped and it's not nearly as entertaining when the audience is in on the joke too. If you wanted to make the show more "professional/serious" then you also can't bring him back because a lot of his humour is very ghetto/vulgar (he spent a lot of time talking about gay nigger sex). This stupid bitch is too dumb to understand either of these points and thinks they are implying he isn't entertaining.
