Bluesky Must Enforce its Community Guidelines Equally

Ironally, the Jesse sperg out is a massive violation of Bluesky terms of service.

For example, the TOS say:

Treat others with respect. For example, no:
  1. Harassment or abuse directed at a specific person or group, including but not limited to, sexual harassment and gender identity-based harassment
  2. Do not:
    • Use labels in a way that is abusive, harassing, or targeting of specific accounts, groups, or protected characteristics.
    • Design labels that use profanity, spurious allegations, derogatory terms, or harmful tags.
    • Do not label maliciously (i.e. knowingly mischaracterizing content as harmful or problematic when it plainly does not go against your stated policies or guidelines.

It is an interesting strategy because clearly the people running Bluesky are trying to exploit Twitter shredding a ton of users as it turns into Elon's personal hugbox, and want to have their site just be the reasonable alternative for regular people who don't want too much drama. But if they yield on these ridiculous demands it will immediately start the site off on the wrong foot and make it clear they will ban people for no reason whatsoever so long as the usual suspects scream loud enough.

The end result of that will probably be an impression that Bluesky is just another shrinking circle of insane trannies trying to impose their will on everyone else which is going to be offputting for the kinds of people they want to attract (there's already like 10000 sites where trannies try to call the shots to create an echo-chamber noone else is allowed into, and a bunch of them are twitter knock-offs too). Additionally, since Twitter still exists, an arbitrary or poorly reasoned ban like that on someone like Jesse will be capitalized on that site to show they really are the free speech capital of the web and Bluesky is in the thrall of the worst people from old twitter, even moreso than previously, which won't help it catch on with disenchanted normal people who are tired of hitlermcphrenology1488 shitting up their mentions twitter because he bought a bluecheck. Jesse being Jesse, he'll almost certainly turn it into as big a deal as he can and will probably get boosted by people who have a vested interest against Bluesky, hell, he might even try legal action, which I doubt the site founders want.

This isn't really about Singal

While Jessie tends to rile up the troon brigade this is more about power.

The troons thought that because they were the early adopters of Blandsky that they had the power. Like back in pre-Musk Twitter they could just report someone and the moderators would take action and banhammer them just because a troon was upset

What they fail to realize that it has nothing to do with the troons themselves, it was the far left San Fran dwelling $15/hr Twitter support mods that held the real power. But because the whack left mods believed the same as the troons they felt powerful but their power as an illusion.

Now with Blandsky the troon brigade is trying to flex that same "muscle" they thought they had on Twatter but low and behold nothing is happening because those very Twatter mods are gone and not even Blandsky, as left leaning as it is, wants those kind of toxic moderators. The owners want the platform to grow but right now Blandsky is known for the average new user to be added to a blocklist within the first 24 hours due to the hyper emontional base users whose first response to anything outside their hugbox is to cry foul and block

That's not a recipie for a profitable company.

The site's political inversion from cringe left to cringe right didn't do much to change the quality of its content, but allowing absolute mongoloids to pay for blue checks has been a disaster because now every conversation is dominated by people stupid enough to give Elon money. As long as Bluesky doesn't allow anyone to buy popularity, it will remain marginally better.

This is really worth reading because it’s not just about the Jamie Reed stuff, which is old news to people here. He goes over the Bluesky nonsense, the creepy poster near his home, the barrage of lies and the threats to him. He’s clearly concerned that he might be the target of violence, and ends by pinning the blame for that on Big Al.

I didn’t really think Singal needed an immediate ban when he first showed up but it’s pretty clear that he’s here to troll, he’s the driver of a lot of shitty behavior both directly and indirectly towards a lot of people, and Bluesky would be better off without him.
I’m not going to go digging around ToS to adjudicate whether I think he’s in violation. But the community here would be healthier if he was banned.

I’m not sure there are many other prominent users for whom that’s true, and that’s ultimately 1) a judgment call and 2) one of the big reasons to ban.

I think he’s something worse: a man who has discovered and embraced the idea that bigotry pays.
