Ah, the GTA series. I won't be buying this game because I'm not buying a next gen console full of buggy crap just to play one game (I haven't bought a console since the PS2), and while I get the itch to place a mass murder/mayhem simulator every once in a while, it gets old quick, as do the missions in the series, at least to me. I actually started out playing the GTA series with the first one on the PC all those years ago, and I go back and replay it every now and then, as well as 3 for nostalgia and VC for the setting.
Yes, the game will be woke, because that's the way AAA titles have gone. Yes, it will sell like hotcakes for a while because of the established franchise and new players looking to get into it. 2 billion for any video game is fucking ludicrous, they won't make all that back on sales of the game alone, but you know damn well that they will just make online 2 and hawk "sick skinz, bro" and assorted other microtransaction fortnite trash to try and recoup the absurd cost to make the game. They would be stupid not to do that at launch, as long as isn't a too terribly broken mess (it will be). A lot of people will overlook the wokeslop because they've been conditioned to overlook it, they won't care, or worst case, they support it and feel validated in their ignorant beliefs by an overpriced videogame.
I personally feel that the whole series lost the plot after VC, I tried to get into SA, but it was just a larger world full of the sameness, but this time glorifying ghetto bullshit. That's fine in a fantasy setting like a videogame, but the whole thing rubbed me the wrong way. At least you could finally swim and reasonably pilot aircraft, but that wasn't enough for me to not get bored an hour into the game, drop it, and never pick it back up. V was kind of fun but meh, woo woo shiny graphics again did nothing to mitigate the sameness, so I've had that game for years and maybe have like 40 minutes in it. I know it's a well fleshed out world, but what good is that if it bores me? It's still just a game, and if I'm gonna spend some of my finite time playing one, I at least expect it to be fun to me.
