The idea of a "Satanic Panic" has been fabricated after the fact almost from wholecloth to explain away a series of very politically inconvenient crimes. The Panic narrative is basically that for absolutely no reason a bunch of radical insane evangelical christians decided to accuse innocent people of abusing children for no reason.

First, the McMartin Case. The Panic Narrative is that a paranoid schizophrenic started a witch hunt against a harmless daycare center, and that well meaning but bumbling police talked impressionable children into giving false testimony.

The "schizophrenic"(who was never diagnosed. Ive yet to see a single source on this.) who "made up" these accusations didnt walk into the police station ranting. She went to a Doctor, who found evidence of abuse and then she filed a police report. McMartin Debunkers very conveniently leave these details out.

What these people did was, is they latched on to the "occult" aspect of the abuse, which was reported by only a small minority of the accusers. And they spun that into the entire narrative. They turned it into a story about Satanism and not about child absue which was very clearly going on. This has happened again and again. Its their gameplan.

Another high profile "Satanic Panic" case was Presidio. An Army day care center where multiple children came forward with reports of the same caretaker abusing them. This led to medical exams which showed:

Johnson was only diagnosed with schizophrenia after an incident that postdates the case where she refused to let her children be taken away from her AFTER the accusations. Which is kind of understandable when you consider that the person trying to take them away was one of the people accused by her son of molestation.

Eh. 'Cheese Pizza' is a pretty well known euphemism, so I wouldn't jump to any conclusions just off of that.

What drives most nutty conspiracy theorists is the idea that they're smarter then everyone else to see signs that no one else can, or wants to. When you point out how obvious it is to them, they defend it by saying its arrogance on the behalf of the people responsible, or that it's because no one else would follow up on them. "They'd look at the clues, say this is kinda weird and then leave it." It's self aggrandising, self-fellatory nonsense.

I cant explain that. Either they were incompetent, make a legit mistake, subjected to confirmation bias due to the hysteria, or there was legit child rape happening. If it was legit rape theres no reason to consider that it was due to Satanism. It makes sense that there would be at least some legit cases of child rape. Its like McCarthyism. Did he expose real communists? Sure, but at the cost of ruining the lives of innocent people who werent communists.

The best way to sum all of the day care sex abuse hysteria is if judges overturned a majority of these verdicts how can it not be hysteria? A judge overturning a verdict is not an insignificant thing. Undoing a jury's verdict is something that judges rarely do, yet in so many of these cases, judges from so many different districts have overturned these verdicts. What does that say exactly?

Plenty of other convictions associated with child sex ring hysteria where thrown out. Off the top of my head, the West Memphis Three and the Wenatchee sex-ring case.

The Wenatchee one was especially awful.

Two CPS caseworkers were in the back taking notes as they drove through Wenatchee and East Wenatchee. Donna pointed out houses and buildings where she says she and other children were repeatedly raped and molested since January 1988 -- 22 places in all. Along the way she saw a delivery man and a taxi driver. They were added to the list."

Eventually "more than 40 adults were arrested on 29,726 charges of sex abuse involving 60 children. The chief accusers were two sisters who were foster children in Perez's home.
