Bluesky's current approach to moderation and the situation with Singal kinda reminds me of how reddit was about a decade ago. Everyone remembers the fiasco with r/jailbait but they were legit letting users run around the site with subreddits like r/cutefemalecorpses and the like on top of that. Their stance on moderation issues was basically ignoring stuff and hoping it went away. It backfired for reddit basically every single time because soon that subreddit about rape videos or gore would escalate into a national news story with a headline like "Reddit Refuses To Do Anything About Subreddit Full of Pictures of Dead Women" and then they'd do their groveling PR statement and ban the one subreddit and then go back to doing nothing, rinse and repeat until they just threw the baby out with the bathwater and started banning anything that looked even remotely unusual.

Bluesky is trying a similar approach to moderation and just like reddit it's constantly blowing up in their faces. Maybe not at a national news story level but certainly at a large one. It's arguably worse now because they've literally given their users the tools to encourage the sort of degenerate behavior that leads to this stuff in the first place. And now that it has blown up in their faces wrt Singal, they have just continued to do absolutely nothing and let it fester for some godforsaken reason.

Like, even Kiwi Farms, which bsky users deride as this lawless hellscape, has strict rules against violent threats. Hell, even 4chan does. I assume bluesky has them somewhere but they're clearly too afraid to enforce them because they're afraid they'll upset the fanbase of insane shitheads they thought they could intentionally cultivate without consequence.

The "Bill Kezos" guy they're talking about is one of the people who was fantasizing about killing Jesse Singal, and then he was recently suspended for posting Singal's home address.

Jesse is a Yellow Dog Democrat. No excess of the left is far enough to get him to budge from the Democrat party. He wanted Kamala to win, and he mentions how unhappy he is with the election very often.

That doesn't mean he isn't one of the most honest Western journalists I'm aware of. He would have to be honest to constantly criticize the side he won't move from, especially when he's endlessly attacked and vilified by them. He's biased, but he can keep that bias in check to follow a story and, as he sees it, the truth. And that's about all you can reasonably respect from a journalist.

But, yeah... he's a dyed-in-the-wool shitlib with TDS. Every Blocked and Reported episode will have a certain amount of Dem cope and seething about Drumphler. It's still worth listening at this point.
