One explanation is that women participate in covert/indirect competition over status:
- Actual 10s say "every woman is a 10" so everyone else won't gang up on them
- Above average women say it to less attractive women so they won't try to improve themselves/become more attractive
- Less attractive women say it to more attractive women to make themselves 10-adjacent
- Unattractive women say it as delusion/resentment

In his first video after the filing of the lawsuit was announced, he mentioned that he was initially going to donate the leftover funds from his fundraiser a few months ago (to pay his current lawyer's retainer after Alyssa first annouced her intent to sue) to cancer charity because his wife is a cancer nurse:
He hasn't said anything specific about the matter with this most recent fundraiser yet, to my knowledge, but I'd imagine he's planning to do the same here. He ought to make a clear statement regarding that one way or the other just to make sure everything's above board, of course.

Don't quote me on this, but I seem to recall reading somewhere within the past month that he made some money in investments some years back? My impression is that he's relatively comfortable, but not at the level of generational-wealth-tier fuck you money.

I get where you're coming from and don't disagree, but, OTOH, having this case end up becoming another bit of legal precedent for SJWs getting smacked down after engaging in frivolous lawfare probably wouldn't be a bad thing. Might even have a bit of a chilling effect on cows who might otherwise contemplate doing the same thing—kind of how like a lot of people seem to have backed off of Null when he successfully crowd-funded his legal defense war chest earlier this year.

If I had to guess: they are comfortably middle-class, enough to afford a mortgage and some savings but not enough to randomly be able to dump $25,000 on a lawyer at a moment's notice.

I mentioned this before, but you cannot overestimate just how much the "financially comfortable middle-class chud" enrages people like Alyssa and her followers, who (mostly unconsciously) consider themselves members of the elite, and believe that they are owed wealth and respect because they went to college, pursued Professional Managerial Class careers, and hold all the correct opinions.

But America currently has an elite surplus, and PMC fields like journalism are circling the drain, so people like Alyssa find themselves approaching middle age with zero accumulated wealth and no way to maintain the lifestyle they think they're entitled to. This means they have to lean heavily on the respect they think they're owed in order to keep up their self-image.

Then someone like JT comes along, who not only has the comfortable level of wealth they believe they deserve, but also does not respect them. In fact, he actively mocks their expertise and their correct opinions!

This cannot stand. They are the elite; he is a weird guy who probably voted for Trump and does not even dress correctly, socialize with the right people, or perform the correct ritual prayers confirming that transwomen are women. Society must put him back in his place. The elite apparatus (the media, content moderators, the legal system) must come down with force on this dangerous upstart, and return things to their rightful order. Failure to do this poses an existential threat.

Lots of Prog politics is explained by Bertrand de Jouvenel's "High+Low vs. Middle" formula: elites see an independent middle class as a threat, and weaponize the resentment of the dependent class against them.

But thinking about the results of "elite overproduction", there seem to be people like Alyssa who have a foot in both worlds (moving from High to Low but haven't acknowledged it), and hate the Middle more than either:

- journalists, associate professors of bullshit, and other (formerly) "high status" professions that are collapsing and whose members are scraping by financially
- antifa types from rich/high status families (parents were lawyers or "real" professors) who themselves have no prospects, especially after disfiguring themselves and getting criminal records
- failsons of politicians or professionals, who have credentials and jobs as activists, in government, or at nonprofits, but not as stepping stones to anything greater
