Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Compiling throws this error.
error: gfx/pics.asm(286): Section 'Pics 10' grew too big (max size = 0x4000 bytes, reached 0x4024). error: gfx/pics.asm(645): Section 'Pics 17' grew too big (max size = 0x4000 bytes, reached 0x4006). error: Assembly aborted (2 errors)! make: *** [Makefile:143: gfx/pics11.o] Error 1
I got the trainer sprites and Jynx back sprite from tcrf and used GIMP to edit the front sprites. It compiles fine without the new sprites.
In pics.asm, move whatever you added to "Pics 19"
Double check to make sure the whites in your sprites are actually #000000 whites, and not some sort of off-white. Sprites should only ever have 2 colors and #000000 White and #FFFFFF Black.

Does anyone here ever think about creating Pokémon regions? I have very little artistic or coding skills so I literally just think.
I haven't watched this video much but it had me thinking for like an hour about what would happen if the Gen 5 games were based on England instead of NY/USA. Also, what Galar would be like if it had more effort put into it and was less pozzed.

There was a thread on zzzchan (sleepychan) where someone wanted to create a region based on Greece and the Greek Mythos. There was a couple of cool ideas thrown around but ultimately the thread died (like many threads on that site) due to no one really making an effort to actually do anything. That and there was a lot of back and forth bitching regarding how some new pokemon ideas would overlap with the existing pokemon line-up.

Personally, I believe that if anyone is going to create a new region based on an IRL location, than it should completely avoid any of the official pokemon and just do its own thing. The little that I've seen of Pokemon fangames that create new pokemon, they can't help themselves but stick official monsters in their Pokedex, as if they are self-conscious and afraid their game won't get downloaded or played because it doesn't have Liligant or whatever.

I've had this idea for a while of creating a pokemon fangame and having the region be based around where I live, since theres so many animals and different sub-species that would be perfect for o.g. pokemon and their evolutions that I wouldn't need to even bother with the official monsters. Only problem is 1. I can't code for shit, and 2. I'm unaware of anything that works on Linux.

Yep, all the time since I was little. I've got god-awful concepts dating back to when I was like 6 or something still hidden away in some dusty lost pile of old drawings.

It was a huge reason I tried to learn how to code so many times (had no idea that I could just use external tools until I was like 14. Thought you needed to code an entirely new game from scratch every time) and a similarly large reason as to why I kept drawing. I always tried drawing up my concepts but was never happy with them, and I kept failing at learning how to code over and over and over again, so nowadays I mostly just think about it. Honestly, though, it's more fun and interesting to think of how existing regions could've been made different or even better, so I've been drifting away from fan region stuff in favor of just "alternate" mainline games. Gen 3 remakes made in gen 5, an actual Z, etc. Stuff like that.

There's little point in making a fan region, anyways, when you'll never be able to do much with it and the designs will be inferior to the mainline games' unless you know exactly what you're doing and have taken a lot of time to study how they're made. And then you could be like me and study all that but never do anything with it anyways because you just don't have the confidence to pull it off lol.

Aside from his creepy Stepfordization fetish, Mr. Buddy's region videos always made me mourn for what could have been. His concepts were tacky and very obviously Fakemonish, but the fact that every single part of his England region is significantly more thought-out and cared for than any part of Galar is absolutely depressing. I always told myself that the day Pokémon died would be when it was hard to argue that fan designs were better than the real thing (especially since almost all fan designs suck massive donkey nards), and gen 8 is when they finally passed that threshold.

...granted, the series obviously isn't dead, but it's spiritually dead to me. Don't know why I keep looking forward to how they're going to ruin it in the future. Hunger for familiarity, I guess.

In regards to Mr. Buddy himself, I find it funny that he decided Pokémon was worth completely ripping off by making his own "Buddymon" and jumping the shark to make his channel entirely about that and that alone. Even started a Patreon for it and everything.

Fast forward a year or two later and he's come crawling back to Pokémon fan content, having posted nothing substantial on his """original project""" for like 2 years at this point, instead riding off of fumes to keep his dying channel alive. He's so desperate he's showing his hideous face on his thumbnails. It would be kind of sad to see if he was actually doing anything other than recycling old Pokémon news/theoreticals and continuing to really indulge in that Stepfordization shit.

>Pokémon takes one (1) year off the nonstop media blitz it's been undertaking since approx. 2016 (arguably since its inception)
>the whole fucking world conspires to do its marketing for it via massive leaks, murders, and stupid lawsuits tied to it being reported on by mainstream media alongside the usual social media fanaticism around the brand
Starting to genuinely believe that this franchise is favored by God at this point, what the actual fuck is happening. Completely and utterly surreal to see this stupid brand be so dominant in random events this year through sheer repeated coincidence.

Hell, I haven't even mentioned shit like Gumshoos' ear notch coinciding with Trump's first assassination attempt (and the design sharing a generation with a Pokémon that shares Kamala's name) or the rapefics. Seriously, what on earth.

Don't forget Wielder Volo trying to take over the universe the year Volodymr Oleksandrovycz Zelenskiy became the centre of public attention.

Pokeyman is illuminati satanic like the church said in the late 90s/early 2000s and now we have an anime vatican mascot.
Lockstin explaining the alchemy references was right, the franchise is either run by geniuses or tards, maybe both.

Given how the development process seems to go, I'm betting it's run by autistic retarded geniuses who can't discern between great and terrible ideas and have 0 ideas on how to efficiently implement either type into their actual games.

It's like a monkey pushing buttons, either it creates another legends arceus or some typhlosion gooning fanfic.

I'm looking at france in 2025, maybe legends ZA is gonna do some high IQ predictions to happen there.

It's also probably heavily staffed by enthusiasts who played the games back in the 90s (which is a bad thing). Instead of someone who's just there for the gig and maybe conscientious with their work.

Since I run Pokemon Tabletop and don't want to be constrained by the "canon" of established regions I make up my own. They aren't great but I've never had the players complain about them or my shitty MSPaint ass maps for them. They would never translate into actual video games though. My regions are built to have adventures closer to the anime or mangas than the games.

Though using Tiled with a bunch of stolen official and fan game tilesets it is a load of fun making maps for the players to explore or fight on. My complete lack of drawing skills doesn't hold me back when making them.

The more I learn about the Appalachian region, the more I think it could make for an interesting Pokémon region, if just for making cryptids into Pokémon. Like can you imagine the Flatwoods Monster as a box-art Legendary?

I wish I'd done that, the Pokerole game I run is set in Kanto atm but 20 years after RBY so I can't even be lazy and reuse the maps, I have to remake Kanto maps with modifications but still keep them recognizable enough. It really limits my creativity. The next game after this one is definitely going to be set somewhere totally original.

Absolutely not. There is already so many regions, characters and Pokemon and barely anything done with them. Now you want to make more? For what, the characters and regions are always so barebones and barren, poorly written and fill very little purpose in the story. Most people never utilize the Pokemon to their best potential, so the fakemon are usually just shittier versions of existing Pokemon or concepts that never been used for a reason, with little thought as to how it would play well with over 1000 already existing Pokemon.

No, what I want is a third Orre game, one which acts as a playground and lets you utilize all the existing Pokemon, moves and abilities while heavily focusing on double/triple battles that mainline games ignore. Don't care about the story or characters, do whatever you want with them as long as Miror B comes back. Ideally, do something a base game wouldn't do, such as incorporate themes that are darker than usual(Colosseum) or make the bad guys actually threatening and ready to take over the region even without the McGuffin to summon the boxart Pokemon(Gale of Darkness)
Even Shadow Pokemon aren't a requirement, if the game works better without them, do something else or just focus on traditional Pokemon battles. I do want snatching to be kept as a playstyle, maybe make it a tradeoff where stealing Pokemon from trainers makes your heat level go up like in GTA and attracts police attention, but the Pokemon you get are really powerful. Make snatching available for goons and admins as well, with your Pokemon either permanently lost or added to their roster for rematches if you lose the battle.

These are the kind of things I want to see, not yet another boring region that's just a reskinned Kanto/Johto ect. but based off another part of the world. Paldea is supposed to be based off Spain, but if you were never told about it, you would never be able to tell. It has to be the most generic, boring mobile game tier inoffensive open world that could have been made by a first year game dev student in Unity, and that's what most of fan regions will end up looking as too. Do something more with what we have first.

The last mainline region that felt like it actually tried to be really faithful to its inspiration was Sinnoh, imo. It also has places that looked a lot more European than anything in Kalos, Galar or Paldea - a bit fitting since a lot of Hokkaido's early architecture was generally based off of European blueprints, but also a lot more respectful than putting furisode girls everywhere in not-Paris and making its most exclusive restaurant a bloody sushi joint.

I kind of think the opposite. I like how the earlier regions have inspiration but usually do whatever themes they want. Whereas the newer ones are so blatantly not-place.

I think Unova was a good balance. The NYC inspiration is obvious and well done where it is but no one would think it's trying to recreate it.

They should go back to making maps in excel.
after the backlash against BDSP for doing that? Pokemon is going to continue in the direction they've been in since Sun/Moon.

It would be neat to be able to recruit some character NPCs to explore the world with for double/triple battles like the rival or a few npcs you help along the way like they did with the battle tower in Diamond/Pearl. Would definitely give you more of a reason to care about the friendship meme this series is hellbent on forcing. Ofc with the option to dismiss them or ignore that feature entirely if you just want the usual pokemon experience.

For all intends and purposes, it was supposed to appear exclusively in encounter zones while using a level 49 Pokemon and repels, without other Pokemon interrupting me, but alas it didn't. I WAS able to encounter it without Repels, after I fought enough wild Pokemon in the area I would eventually find Raikou
I can confirm this glitch also effects Suicune. Still not sure what is going on there.
BTW, 15 IVs total: 12 for HP and 3 for Attack. Grim.

I've noticed that the in-game clock events stopped for weeks now, but I've been too lazy to try and reset it. Well, the last few events require the clock to move forward so that's what I did. In case anyone else is playing along on an emulator of flashcart, if you have a similar problem with the in-game clock, you should use PKHex to reset the RCT. Nice and simple, if you have a real cart you will have to do the same thing when your internal battery is replaced due to a bug.

Man I don’t know if this is the place to post about it, but I can’t help but notice that so many people are buying out big box stores of all of their Pokemon cards with this latest set. I know they’re mostly going to scalp them, but like why bother with anything since the pull rates are so abysmal? I keep seeing videos of people going rabid for the 151 sets at places like costco and it’s like all that trouble and embarrassing behavior to get pennies on the dollar in value if you’re lucky.
