General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Okay yeah I have no fucking clue what the story was, but I did enjoy the singing and choreography so there's that.
I wonder if they realize how incomprehensible it was.

There's a lot going on tonight, Doki and Mint's concert was also tonight. If anyone wants to check it out @luwudco on Twitter recorded the entire thing from the front row. Setlist included "I Just Had Sex" and the infamous "Last Cup of Coffee" amongst others

I appreciate Doki's insistence on dunking on Kurosanji.
Not even bothering with PL stuff, saying she won best FPS gamer two years in a row. Nothing to lose and nothing Niji can do. She is factually correct, they disavowed her cover, you can't copyright an ancient word, and her intro animation wasn't made by them. After all she went through I'm glad she can take pot shots and all Niji can do is seeth.

These awards are shit. Glad I'm not watching.
So just like any other award show. Always has been
I will say, while the acting is pretty cringe, the songs have been pretty good. Shame this is the last time we'll see them sing together.
The intro was really cool. Mazu, the dude that created Myth's Bad Ending, made it

There's a lot going on tonight
The new HoloEN song was also announced during Calli's karaoke collab. Release on Christmas Eve, Ame included

There feasibly can’t be a legit award show for Vtubers, mainly because the extreme dominance of Hololive (because of their extreme cult/simp fanbase)

What makes it even funnier is when people point to indies as also being popular… the biggest indies are all former Hololive and Niji talents :story:

It’s like college football and the NFL… same sport different league.

welcome to awards shows for every entertainment medium on earth.

It's either strictly a popularity contest at which point people are unsatisfied because their individual perceptions of what constitutes an underrated entry will never win against their individual perception of what is overrated and popular.

Or it ends up with a selection panel where everyone believes it to be out of touch and pretentious because it over focuses on the niche tastes of the judges or influenced by money (look how much people hate the game awards or the Oscars)

Award shows in general don't work if one tries to think they need to be "legit" or objective because what most people mean when they say that is actually that they just want them to reflect an approximation of their own tastes.

New phase connect teaser
Not sure if it's a new gen or not, a frog vtuber would be pretty cool
You need the right voice for a frogtuber.
If they can pull off that cadence I expect great things.

She really should have won that gamer award. I was going to say that Zen didn't deserve it as there's no way he plays as much as Tenma. But man he is putting in 8-9+ hour streams. So kudos to him.
He's about on par with her but far less gorillas.
I swear to god if Tenma didn't work a job as well she probably would be doing 13+ hour streams every day. That's terrifying to think about.

She probably would also do more drinking too. So maybe the Mystery Meat fox would get alcohol poisoning even despite being part slav

Quite the schizo rant there. Having Musk buy twitch wouldn't make it better. Have you not seen what a dumpster fire twitch has become?
Become? Ehhh, It's always been a mess. Difference is scale and exposure.

I consider Twitch in it's current state like a wild fire consuming a ripe harvest. With the farm hands saving whatever they deem important, leaving the rest to burn .When the logical move would be to cut a clean straight path to end the fire with a combine harvester.

If you've used the purple platform long enough, you'll know first hand that Twitch has always had it's preferred spaces and communities. When a staff member named "Gore" decided to make a global emote called 'NightLight', many spoke out and got banned. Why? Said emote was a reference to his furry boyfriends glowing penis. The person in question was not punished. Twitch would later make an apology on reddit, with the episode mostly forgotten because streaming and speed running wasn't popular yet. Another pre-Amazon era piece of drama is Hassan, an ex-Admin at Twitch. He would quitely "leave" during the speaking-out movement, when it was soft-confirmed that he would take nudes and other personal made content from female cam whores to get unbanned sooner or avoid strikes.

Streaming becoming the primary video medium online is what has led to Twitch's actions becoming far more documented and shared. Those events I commented on above? YouTube and pre-recorded / edited content was the go-to goal for many in the early 2010's. Both happened pre-Mixer era. Nowadays you can hit go live, spout your equally bad opinions as those recorded YouTube videos and get just as much, if not more fame/money than ever before. In turn, this thread and the greater vTuber community is able to obtain more information surrounding Twitch / streaming because the sub-genre is interlinked with it. I couldn't tell you an ounce of e-sports drama because I am not apart of that space, but I am sure someone can reply to me and mention 5+ stories that happened on Twitch. If Vtubers weren't on Twitch, I can assure you a fair few in this thread would have no clue what happens on that site if it wasn't for the farms "Happening" tab.
