Amazon Prime's "Secret Level" anthology series announced at Gamescom - Series based on "hit games" like Concord and New World

Is it good or nah?
Depends on the episode. The Warhammer, Sifu, Unreal Tournament, and Armored Core episodes are legitimately really good, I would recommend you give those a watch. The Pac-Man one is edgy and weird but honestly I liked it, though it's pretty much Pac-Man in name only. All the rest are kind of mid.

The second half comes out on the seventeenth, so we'll see how that half fares soon. It's got the Megaman episode which I'm mildly excited for, as well as the Concord one, which I am also excited for but in a "staring at the train wreck" kind of way.

Late but this was at the game awards.
The short based on Pacman that looks more like Destiny 2 is actually based on this upcoming game Shadow Labyrinth

I watched the Warhammer and Armored Core ones, and both felt very mediocre.

The Warhammer one was particularly glaring because I constantly kept comparing it to Astartes, that had both punchier combat a more coherent/logical narrative (also, fuck every mouthbreather that has characters holding a sword backwards).

The Armored Core one was okay, but offered nothing you can't already experience by playing the game yourself. At least the ending felt far weightier than the one in Warhammer.

Still not quite sure what the point of these even is.

The Dungeons and Dragons felt good. Kind of showed the Tactical Roll the Dice style of the game along with an abridged quest line that doesn't just end. A bit of a higher level DnD experience but it makes sense within the contained 15 minutes.

memberberries and/or "look at all this nerd things you like!". that's the whole premise, and which it feels so void of anything, it's not about making the best fucking warhammer animation, but having to do one because it's popular.

pretty sure they took that from space marine 2, can't remember how it was handled (heh) in SM1

Can I just say for the episodes, why is everything so dark? In the Astartes animation on youtube for example, lighting is very important as it was designed to hide the traitors when they attack the Space Marines in the halls. In almost every ep here, there's a general darkness to everything that makes it hard for me to see details.

So the next batch of episodes just dropped at the Mega Man one might be the worst cause it looks great, designs fit, is true to the games, make sense, good remix of the level music (I think I heard Wily Castle 1 from Mega Man 2 at one point), voices were good, and then it just fucking ends. Its like they creators gave you hope for a good mega man series and then just took it away.

I only became aware of this series, like, 5 minutes ago because of the connection to Shadow Labyrinth (which looks batshit but it's somehow not irredeemable gigacringe like Bomberman: Act Zero). I'm probably not going to watch all of them because I don't care about many of the individual properties.

The Pac-Man short is so bizarre and creative that it works. But it's honestly just a primer ad for an upcoming game.

The Spelunky short was fucking terrible. I know Spelunky 2 stars the daughter of the main character from the first game (lets pretend any of these are proper characters), but why is everyone in Hollywood insisting on forcing female characters into male roles? This short has two female characters skinwalking as Indiana Jones. Nothing about it feels relatable, as much as I love the games and as cute as the short's basic concept is. Just dreadful.

The Mega Man short was pure blue balls. Literally ends where it should begin! 7-ish minutes is far too brief a time to tell a decent story the way this show is trying to do it. Not that Mega Man has a proper story...

I kind of hate this series so far. I care a lot more about the script than I do how awesome the animation looks. I may watch the rest, I don't know.

EDIT: The Sifu short was okay, I guess. These are almost like tech demos for animation... there's not much there, but at least you get a feeling for what they wanted to do.

That's only for daggers. No need to do it with a powersword, it goes through everything like instantly.

The story didn't make sense. Why were these random marines sent in? Why would Titus be on a random suicide mission? He was supposed to be adventuring with Calgar and Leandros.

So it's very true to what MegaMan fans feel when they can grasp a new game that never releases.

The Unreal Tournament one was the best episode I watched. Especially with surround sound and a sub woofer. Haven't watched Armored core but want to. Just Pac-Man, UT, and Warhammer. 40k was good but I was disappointed with the sound being kinda muted.
