"The Anime Network"? Is that thing even still around? (Wasn't TAN rebranded by Sentai as HiDive which was then bought up by AMC Networks?) Just how ancient is this content I.D. bot?

Ever notice lately in Japan that they have been trying to change crossdresser characters into trans characters? It must have started back with Stop!! Hibari-kun! then escalated with that other BL manga and then with Bridget in GG. Those character stereotypes are honestly a hassle to write or deal with and are not worth it.

I had to switch my VPN to Japan to see it. Fuck copyright. It's a 12 year old video likely just kept whatever viewing permissions that got applied to it.
Why is Hetalia so good, despite being scorned by weeaboos? It's the countrywar 'jak anime! Even on rewatches it never fails to get a laugh out of me.
Like MGX said, it was notorious for being the fujoshi anime in its day.

>watching with subtitles then realizing half the words in the sentence were in English
How long until Japanese is just English words written in katakana?

Hibari is a crossdresser, but he believes he has the heart of a woman which his father doesn't believe in and his sisters are just trying to keep him out of trouble. I'm not too far in the series to know how the characters grow around that so for all I know it's Hibari coming to terms with being gay, or if he was always playing pretend because he doesn't want to become the next yakuza clan leader, but trannies were always played for laughs for the longest time. Sometimes you'd get the dramatic ones like Claudine...! and Wandering Son, but it was always in the name of telling an interesting story.

Though now that I think about it, I don't believe I've ever seen a transgender drama written by a male mangaka...

Also hilariously the blurb for Stop!! Hibari-kun! still says "he" from both ANN and MAL lmao.

Unfortunately, those stories end up rotting like dirt as years go by.

I never got the appeal besides comedy or making a male character that won't be a competitor for the rest of the female cast.

Nowadays the political baggage isn't worth it.
Because of fujoshi fangirls.
Fujoshis breaking containment was horrific for media worldwide.

I remember one time a fujoshi pooner showed me, a stranger they'd just met, gay porn of MHA and SnK, after briefly talking with her about how I liked anime and what shows I liked. I didn't even mention either of those series. And it wasn't softcore, either. It was Deku getting fucked in the ass by Bakugo, and then another image of Mikasa watching as Erin got fucked in the ass by Levi. Luckily fujobait outside of their otome and BL trash is consigned to shonen shit.

Still, I prefer fujoshis to yurifags. Yurifags are somehow even more deranged.

While Transgenderism is on the rise in Japan unless you hear or read the term "New Half or" similar terms, the character is most likely a cross-dresser and not trans.

not exactly mango, but for @ShitLurker (and anyone else interested): humble currently has a somewhat good package of eurocomics as a single bundle. among them the original incal albums, metabaron stuff and even some milo manara works, for a price that can't really be beaten.

also most (all?) of hellboy and related comics:

EDIT: be sure to check the amount of the bundle and what's set on the right, plus adjusting the donation. humble likes to fuck with the presets sometimes setting it higher than the maximum.

EDIT2: they each have a preview so you don't have to judge a book by it's cover. and for anyone too lazy to check (from the available preview, nothing paywalled), here's how it all started. remember to read from left to right...

Hibari is actually funny to watch because of how cringe the whole situation is on top of the fact he's a Yazuka son. It's so bizarre. It's a lot of gag humor.
It's nothing like the shit Shūzō Oshimi writes which is just smut.
