Late & gay re: the issue of people using casual singular "they"... yes it's common among gendershits, but there are also a lot of people who do it without any socjus overtones. Usually it's just due to socializing online. Seeing "skittlesfan1386" and a generic avatar doesn't give immediate gender cues: most online people are never anything more than text on a screen. So people who socialize online will often refer to others with singular "they" just out of laziness instead of constantly digging for pronouns. That can end up carrying over to real life or people they know the sex of just due to habit. If you get triggered over people who use "they" you're probably catching a lot of false positives who are just Internet nerds at worst.

I used to be down with third-person-singular "they," until I suffered through reading a story that used it for an enby character. Turns out it's a miserable experience, and now I've brought "he or she" back into my lexicon out of spite.
There's an author I like to follow. He writes a lot, has published daily for years, and has enough of a dedicated following that he makes some decent money off of it. He is a competent and experienced writer and I think he knows what he's doing.

In the middle of an otherwise normal story he introduced a "nonbinary" character. That would have been fine- it was genuinely sexless in a way that made perfect narrative sense. This was not directly described, but it was incredibly obvious what the author had done within about a paragraph, and the prose was noticeably awkward every single time the character appeared for the rest of the story.

English is pretty flexible, but that was the end of any doubt I had.

Something similar happened in a fantasy novel I was reading. It was pretty mediocre to begin with, but then the author had a they/them. After that, it was pretty much impossible to tell if there were multiple characters in a scene, or if it was the they/them. I ended up dropping it not long after that.

I know older sci-fi would often refer to robots/aliens/other non humans as 'it', and that was so much more readable. Unfortunately, sci/fantasy seems to be a hotbed for begendered writers.

This tranny is mad that his parents wish he could marry a woman, I will agree with him on that marrying a woman is a terrible thing for trannies to do. He also says the quite part out loud about gay men.

Iain Banks was somewhat of a forerunner to woke, and active when it was just becoming a thing, and his works handle non-binary characters perfectly well. Same thing with gender transitions, for that matter. Drones and Minds (sentient machines) are ”it” unless they prefer him or her, in which case they will have an avatar of that gender to make it obvious. The same goes for human characters who change gender, when they’re male they’re him, when they’re female they’re her. The explanation we get is that the Culture’s (deliberately constructed that way) language only has one pronoun, it, and the text we read is simply a translation that uses English terminology in the way that’s most appropriate.

It doesn’t impair readability one bit. Only one story even makes gender transitions an important part of the background anyway, and that happens to be the best one (for entirely unrelated reasons). I think it comes down to the quality of the author. Modern authors trying to mix gender stuff into their novels do an awful job of it because they want to show themselves as progressive. Banks wanted to show a society so progressive and advanced that gender doesn’t matter, and it’s one of the best sci-fi series of all time. It helps that Banks was genuinely a pretty cool guy, he didn’t feel the need to prove anything, so he just wrote great books instead.

I just assumed all of the "men" these pooners use as examples are SEA people. I have never met a caucasian man shorter than me. I'm 175cm. I'm also not in the states so the only other ethnicities I see are arabs, turks/West Asians and the occasional negroid.
Caucasian dudes around 170 cm (5'7'') are actually rather common. I live in Sweden, FYI. I see ethnically Swedish dudes at or around this height every day (I live in a Gothenburg förort), so it's definitely not gawk-worthy. I'm 5'4'' myself, and I would say that on average I see a couple of ethnically Scand dudes a week who are my height. Guys shorter than me do exist, but they tend to be of a darker complexion.

Tranny basically loses out to real women after not telling a guy outright they're a man.
He was either dating the most oblivious person on Earth (no boobs? no hugs? the guy would 100% noticed the weird bulge inside "her" pants) or this is - and my bet is on that - a fake story, some sort of humble brag as "I am so passable!" and a way to garner sympathy from other troons.

My guess it's either fake or the guy knew but didn't say anything to keet it as a get out of jail free card, so when the regret kicks in he can just say "You decieved me? Wow, I can't believe this!".

You'd think if someone was passing enough to fool someone this hard they'd post their photos all over the place for upvotes.

Possibly, the “boyfriend” knew from the start and just thought that this tranny wanted to be friends and they were going to play dnd, warhammer, watch cape shit movies, and were doing things that nerdy guys do together.
The “boyfriend” might not have had many friends, or friends interested in these things and was happy to have a friend to share these things with.

Then when the tranny told him that he was interested in more, the poor sod freaked out a bit, but is the sort of gentle nerd who hoped to save the tranny’s feelings by pretending not to know.

The tranny specifically said nice days together.
People dating normally do things in the evening.
Maybe the first couple of dates will be during the day for safety reasons, but after that you go for meals, that kind of thing.

If there is even a shred of truth to this story, and that's a big fuckin' if, the other dude might not have even realized OP was a tranny. He mentions being "early in transition", meaning he likely adopted the troon label a few months ago.

So if it’s true, it could even be that this “boyfriend” thought they were best male friends, and didn’t particularly care or think to ask about his friend starting to wear dresses.

If the so-called relationship was mostly (or entirely) online, that might very well be the case.

Then of course the top comment is someone saying their girlfriend came out to them as trans and they didn't care because they love them.

Not at all fake even though the comment and their one follow up is all the reddit account has ever made....
Yeah that's fucking horseshit. It's a cope comment posted by a Troon to try and convince other Troons the lie that straight men would want to fuck a Troon, or that you can hide being a Troon from a prospective partner for two months and suddenly spring it on them and the guy be totally fine with it.

That’s a very good point.

“Going out” used to mean someone that you physically would go and see.

But these days, I have met many kids who talk about a boyfriend/girlfriend that lives the other side of the world and they never have even been in the same town.

Howdy, never posted on Reddit before so if I'm doing it wrong I'll have to beg your pardon. I'm just looking for any advice on how to reframe my thought process around being born in this body (specifically, one without a penis). I've been on T a year and a half, happy with some changes and eh about others, did a stint of detransitioning, tried a grab bag of different genders/identities, and now I'm just kinda... well, I don't know. I'm transmasc and that's about it. I wasn't happy detransed but it did ease my mind of The Torment (i.e. having no dick) and now that I'm back being a dude I just find myself falling into the same bad thought patterns that convinced me to stop being one. I'm waiting for a top surgery and hysto date, both of which will help with my body image, but it always comes back to the ol' genitals, alas. Not interested in phallo for multiple reasons and meta just makes me think I'd feel worse than before - nothing against anyone who wants or has gotten these surgeries, I just don't think they're for me. I contemplate just getting a vaginectomy, perhaps with simple release... but honestly sometimes bottom growth gives me dysphoria because it's like, I don't know, a reminder of my inability to have what I want? I'm sorry for how negative this is, at one point I felt a lot of joy from my bottom growth and the changes of T but it's possible I just overthought it and ruined it for myself. (And yes I am in therapy, working on it.) But yeah, if anyone can offer me some wisdom or just relate to The Torment, I'd be much obliged.
Seems like a good case for old fashioned psychoanalysis,
but what current year shrink would dare diagnose 'penis envy'?

Most Pooners seem to have a combination of penis envy and a piss fetish.
