Warhammer 40k

Got Necromunda: Hired Gun through Amazon Prime, is it worth playing? Steam reviews seem to have it mixed. I can deal with eurojank as long as the gameplay is fun.

It's gotta fucking suck when a sizeable enough amount of your viewerbase thinks you're a tranny that you have to lead with that in your Q&A video.

Meanwhile, Dana Howl can sit there in his cancer wig with his fat man hands, doing his nasally valley girl vocal fry, and somehow manage to fool a not insignificant number of people into thinking he's just a fat, unfortunate looking woman.
lol, that's actually kinda funny considering she's basically a hobby-ho, the analog version of an ethot if you will. It's actually kind of amazing how stagnant her youtube channel is. The tranny can always get at least 10k views, while she struggles to hit 10k even with her coomer bait style thumbnails. Of course the reason why is actually kind of obvious, and I've mentioned this before in this thread, but it's because her channel is spastic and all over the place without focusing on anything in particular, thus generating little interest.

hate to say it, but if you go by content the 10k are warranted. there's no woke pushing shit, he puts in enough effort to not scare off the normalfags (they probably don't even notice, props for that I guess), and the topic seems to be informative and not shitty clickbait - dunno if that has changed tho, only saw 2-3 videos ages ago.

From what I've seen it is, looks good. Cyber mastiff is janky though. Has a habit of not following your orders.

Are the Caiaphas Cain novels worth reading? I like the premise of "what if you had Maxwell Smart as a commissar?", but between MajorKill and Abnett's self-insert John Grammaticus, I've become wary of overt attempts at humor in 40k. The comedy comes from matter-of-factly showing the casual disregard for human life, not "lol so wacky wink-wink!"

they are Flashman in space

I quite liked them for what they were, it is probably relevant to state that the Flashman Papers are some of my favorite novels.

The author basically wanted to do the Flashman Papers but 40k, though with the exception of the first short story Caiaphas Cain is far less of an unrepentant bastard and coward than Flashman is. Overall I think they manage to have some fun with 40k with out taking the piss out of it too badly, I am more of a casual fan of the setting though.

Though it is not a WH40K novel, Riders of the Dead is my absolute favorite bit of Black Library slop. It does a great job of fleshing out the Old World and really nails the beauty and sadness of the struggle against Chaos, it all but states that the forces of order are destined to lose in the end but that every single extra day of survival they win is a great victory. Really makes me wish that the old Storm of Chaos timeline would be continued, stupid as the ending of SoC was.
Moral of the story? If you're a woman, take care of yourself or people will mistake you for a tranny.
Quickly browsing that channel, and I hate to be mean, but at least half the reason she is probably mistaken for a tranny is because she dresses like one.

I'm wondering if the latest patch beefed it up a bit.

The 1st dlc is supposed to add quite a bit to chapters 2 and 4. ( Not to mention adding more bridge crew) Not chapter 5 sadly but the patch that just came out did make some adjustments to the chaos party member. As well as other quality of life improvements. Supposedly the colony events are more engaging now.

Also season 6 of space marine 2 is when we get chaos customization
DLC 1 is pretty good, the new follower fills a good story role (dedicated bodyguard) and a good gameplay role and the best part is the interactions with the ship crew. The assassin is also corruptible, like KOTOR II-style, wish the others were.

Like turning a deck to Nurgle worship by being a stingy fuck and cutting corners, that’s brilliant, I love that.

Season 6? I have to wait till the game is dead to get my religious freedom rights?! Fucking worthless devs.

Wow, Riders of the the Dead is a blast from the past. I read a preview of it in White Dwarf and bugged my parents for ages to buy me it after. What a good book, I really miss that era of the hobby.

I really likethe Dark Coil series by Peter Fehervari, and I'm reading Fire Caste at the moment. It's excellent, no bolter porn (that's a good thing imo) but just a surreal, grueling space Vietnam story. Reminding me of Apocalypse Now in some ways.

Has a cool regiment of Imperial Guard based on Confederate soldiers that have officers with their own steampunk style suits of powered armour fighting the Tau, their alien auxiliaries and human natives they've manipulated.

Seconding @Defensive Ella Purnell on Fehervari's Dark Coil stuff. I wish they'd give him more work. I also like Ciaphas Cain, Steve Lyons' Death Korps novels, the Carcharodons books by Robbie Macniven, and the Soul Drinkers series.

Even if the tranny was overtly pushing the woke shit, they'd still probably get 10k views a video easy. Like I said, the problem with Hobby Night is her spastic lack of consistency. Dana Howl at least focuses on miniature painting and can actually develop an audience.

If you can put up with the tranny, if you watch their videos and see a new one, it'll probably be about miniature painting or something adjacent to it. Hobby Night? React video, Q&A video, try not to laugh, painting AoS, react video, boardgame, salamanders painting video(and not particularly great looking from the thumbnail), AoS, MTG, MTG, ren fair, board games, ok job painting ultramarines, MTG, hobby tools, terrain tutor call to action, painting bloodbowl, "studio tour" space marine 2 video game, channel drama, try not to laugh, trailer reaction, MTG, anime card game, it just goes on and on. What the fuck is her channel about? Who knows? Anyone wanting regular videos about any of those topics, can get those videos from channels focused on those topics and likely also do a better job without having her include a mid roll ad promoting her mediocre OF page.

She does, and that's probably not helped by her five-head(needs to get a new hairstyle or something), and that the bulk of her "cosplay" outfits are just trashy leotards from amazon or wherever. And even the coomer videos... yeah she does some porn shit but then also crap like this?

Who the fuck seriously wants to watch some not particularly great looking naked chick build a model tank? I get it, there's someone out there with that weird niche fetish but there can't be THAT many.

Its definitely more tongue-in-cheek than anything like that. Generally light-hearted and adventurous, and the pop-culture references are fitting instead of being forced memberberries.

Malus Darkblade. Dude is a giant fucking dick to so many people, yet cunning enough to treat his followers well and have them share in the spoils of victory to ensure they'll help bail him out from the inevitable consequences of his dickery. That man is pretty much pure walking Skub judging by the fact that wherever he goes in the novels mass violence breaks out afterwards. The only Dark Elf city that didn't descend into total chaos from his presence was Naggarond itself, but that's because Malekith was smart enough to keep him isolated from the city and in just the Black Tower.

The Word Bearers trilogy is premium bolter porn, overshadowed by Night Lords and Storm of Iron but superior to that awful Black Legion trilogy they never completed (thank god) and fun, it’s just fun, they’re dicks and they have regular workplace interactions while having people turned into building blocks.

Like a possessed scales a tower, kills a guy and drinks his wine as his brothers enter the room and his Dark Apostle chews him out for excess consumption. Plus this trilogy has the greatest Dreadnought character, Sor Talgron, the Warmonger and to top it off, oldcrons are present and damn, they were so much more intimidating back then.

There’s another hilarious part where a human helps the protagonist and it’s your typical “human and space marine bromance” complete with a joke from a Dark Apostle after the human crashed a shuttle.

The funny part? He had that guy thrown in the slave pits, fuck that guy, glory to the Dark Gods.

Ok, so I coughed up for a Horus Heresy Mk3 tactical squad and am stripping down and kitbashing a Primaris lieutenant for my Iron Warriors.

The person I play with and I are pretty rules-light. Are the 10e datasheets for a a Chaos Lord and Legionaries similar enough to a Primaris LT and vanilla Space Marine Tactical Squad that I can just use the ones I have? Treating my IWs as just reskins/proxies?

We skip the Command and Morale Phases, as well as anything else that triggers modifiers that make things more complicated. We don't use things like stratagems unless one of us is feeling extra rules-Jewish.

I really loved reading the Ghazgull book, followed by the Yarrick omnibus. It really gives you perspective of how much of a threat Ghaz is, and just how FUCKING STUPID those GODDAMN POLITICIANS are that Yarrick has to deal with.

It even inspired me to paint my very first model:
