I don't understand the Mass Effect hype, never did.
The game was a C- at best, fetch quests and resource gathering on barren planets because console optimization limited the game scope.

I think for a lot of console players it was their introduction to that style of game with all the branching conversations and your-choices-have-consequences stuff and that's what made it stick out. If you were primarily a PC gamer at the time I can't imagine being too impressed.

I played a bit of 1 and 2 and the combat was total ass so I lost interest pretty fast.

I'm getting conflicting comments on the requirement to have received an evidence preservation letter. Apparently if you're the plaintiff in the suit one is assumed?

As I understand it, spoliation of evidence is never allowed, but it's not an automatic lawsuit forfeit (or automatic jail). Someone expecting legal action has an obligation not to destroy or alter evidence, but there can be debate as to exactly when that obligation took effect, what it encompasses, and how much destroying/altering evidence prejudiced the lawsuit.

So I think the notice letters are more about making it very clear that they have an obligation to preserve, and explicitly listing as many relevant items as possible, so they can't claim ignorance later.

Alyssa & friends nuking texts after the lawsuit filing (or even immediately before) seems pretty clear cut, but opposing counsel has to know that evidence existed, know whose possession it was in, contact the real people behind those social media accounts, and establish in court they had a legal obligation to preserve. So those Black Girl Magic Gamerz groups or whatever nuking their histories with Alyssa aren't automatically in trouble, unless someone sends Coleman their incriminating posts and he decides to pursue them.

I think it's pretty safe to assume as laymen that the attempt at destruction of evidence will atleast result in a annoyed judge and a big warning but beyond that it has to reduce her chances of getting a favorable verdict on 1). A judge or jury will repeatedly see her social media posts and repeatedly be told she tried to delete them because it helped JT's case, pretty tall bar.

Not usually - at least outside NYC (a few neighborhoods in Kings and Queens kind of overpower red votes in the area, and the Dems flipped some very close US House elections blue despite Trump overperforming in the area). The Hamptons, despite being Maryland levels of blue have Republican House reps because of how red most of the non-NYC part of the island is. Most of the area inside NYC is red or purple (even Queens), there are just some super dense urban neighborhoods that do what super dense urban areas do, vote for handouts.

Even inside NYC parts of LI are very red, like Richmond.
