Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

Only thing of note is his insistence for "third places designed primarily for adults".

How many more barcades does this man need to be satisfied???

The “third place” shit is such as cope because people create them in any and all conditions throughout history.

They’re just retards who want a Reddit-IRL and cry they don’t have a third place when it can’t be made to exist.
Even children are capable of building some tree or bush house and play with wooden sticks with their friends.
Nobody stop them from making their own "third place", they want someone else to do all the work, as always.

You're also right with the Reddit IRL bit: I love you all kiwi frens but an IRL place Farms would be cringe as fuck, I don't want to think how a redditors place will smell go.

Usual talking points taken verbatim from Jason, nothing really new here.
Is he seriously complaining about the "Bike Lane Closed" sign? It's clear that it's a temporary sign used for construction.

The intersection in question is at N. Scottsdale Road and E. McDowell Road in Scottsdale, looking south. If you actually look at the other side of the road, the sidewalk is all torn up.

The Street View is from June, where it says "Shoulder Work Ahead" but in December it says "Bike Lane Closed" probably because there were so many cyclists causing problems with construction and construction workers. Probably being the same aggressive shitheads for something being in "their" lane.

Meanwhile, this road didn't have bike lanes AT ALL until around ten years ago.

tl;dr Urbanist is an ungrateful shitheel and should be launched into the sun.

He is at the equivalent on a hybrid open / closed air mall for the photo below. The specific area is just the historic old downtown outside a larger shopping complex, (Roercenter).

If one looks at a map a mile or so North, there is an even larger shopping center with a huge parking lot.

This shit reminds me of people on social media hyping their own lives as ones of luxury while not being able to afford rent / a mortgage.

taking a look at it that other center seems to be quite well connected for the people walking from south where that town's train station is since there's a dedicated walkway under that road that's pretty well linked. Shows how the dutch in that area are quite good at accommodating both people driving in from the burbs and people that want to exercise on their way to do stuff or live very close by. A general rule of thumb is that in the netherlands cars aren't put to the wayside and take genuine considerations to make every mode as good as possible.

Checked in on Threads Urbanist and it turns out he's transitioned to BlueSky Urbanist (Archive) because he's desperate for engagement.

He still uses a car:

He's also strapped for cash despite his bike giving him "more financial freedom":

Guess he hates kids. Wouldn't surprise me if he's shifted over to the anti-natalism sect, these two kind of go hand-in-hand. I'm sure his wife is fine with that and doesn't fantasize about other men.
I mean he could not live in an urban hellscape and have a house with a yard?

Throw some tendies in the oven and invite a few guys over.

Done.

Oh wait, their cube of an apartment is too small...or perhaps they are just deficient in some other way.

Even just your own booth at a regular restaurant and cafe is more than enough of a third place. It's about the company, not the place imo - so my reading is that the urbanists don't have good company, rather than lacking a good place.

A block away there is a completely grade separated bike trail running parallel to that road:

Also, Phoenix-area sidewalks are wide and rarely used. No one cares if you bike on them as long as you’re not being an asshole. The bike lane is literally a waste of space.

Alone in their overpriced cube. What a sad existence :(

You have a problem with people of color?
As a person of color myself (though residing in my native country of color), no. Also the whole person of color thing is stupid. Everyone has a fucking color, White isn't the factory setting for all humanity lmao.

I unironically used to dream of this as a cheap-ass bitch with minimal desires. My idea of having fun is staying home powering through video games and reading books and doing whatever I feel like.

I recently moved into a condominium. There's a lot more friction in getting stuff up into a condo than on flat ground - elevator capacity, two-car parking that's one in front and one in the back, relatively small space, and not a lot of space to put a big grocery load or a shelf space for clothes.

Keep in mind that this is a 120 sqm (roughly 1,200 sq ft) unit with 2 bedrooms with ensuite, a living room, a small kitchen, and a toilet near the door for guests. For flat standards I think this is already pretty big, but if I wanted to bring in things like a yogurt maker (something I do) or some glass jars for kefir or homemade kraut/pickled onions/eggs (something I want to do) I could start using up shelf and counter space pretty quickly!

I'll give them this, though, I'd probably feel a lot better about it if there was commercial space on the ground floor. Problem is, I'd spend a lot more if there was commercial space on the ground floor, because it's right there.

By and large, "urban people" cannot do the same, and it's why you can't just plop down a Buc-ee's in the middle of a city and have it work the same way.
They actually have several Buc-ees inside the Houston urban area. They just have a comparably smaller bathroom to compensate for the additional floor shitting.
The smallest one (located in Pearland) has only 2 urinals.

Well, that doesn't apply to @americanfeetslut or his friends, so yes.

They don't build the small ones anymore, and the two that are there are still suburban areas, and not in the third-world suburbs either (mostly on the west/southwest side). They have very specific requirements on traffic counts on nearby roads, so while Southwest Freeway would fit the bill, I can't imagine the bathrooms at the Chevron (pictured) at the gates of the Mahatma Gandhi District (yes, that is the name for it).

These 'bike lanes' where they don't actually care about building biker stuff and just are doing it to fulfill a quota are just repurposing emergency shoulder lanes, they honestly shouldnt even exist
