I doubt there is any citable research to support this, but I have heard that the rate of current and new HIV infections amongst MTF troons in particular is sky-high — supposedly, anywhere from 25% to 40% of MTF troons are HIV+. A lot of them engage in risky sex with male partners. Because of this, there has been a huge push amongst medical professionals who treat trannies, especially trannies that were previously straight men, to teach them how to effectively protect themselves and to get them on PrEP.

I am very late but yes the CDC published this in 2021 - here are some important key takeaways:

Trying to look for good sampling in a very, very small minority would cost millions of tax payer dollars for a community 99% of people do not give a shit about. They are working with the most realistic sample (note: majority of HIV positive people in Atlanta, New Orleans, LA) that they can get with government deadlines and budgets.
