You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

I can't stand the blatant double standards when it comes to women whoring themselves on the internet vs the men buying that shit. Nearly everyone agrees that the kind of creature that pays for discord e-girlfriends are deserving of scorn, yet so many act like the women are innocent in this transaction, or are victims. These aren't women who have been abducted from their village and forced into brothels under the threat of having their family killed by some child-trafficking crimelord, they chose to do this themselves. I just saw an exposé on some scammy discord edating server wherein the narrator would rightfully call out the retarded men buying into it, but then act as if the women were being scammed because they didn't earn as much money as advertised. BOO FUCKING HOO!

Random "critiques" on capitalism that just boil down to bitching about profit or just blaming it for something bad happening (I have seen this from everything from scummy videogame DLC to the lack of McDonalds playplaces).
Like watching a video and getting flashbanged by this argument that is never elaborated on. Not only is it boomer-level ignorant (since its the typical boomer excuse to shitty corpo-practices just in reverse), but because you know the type of person who makes these arguments don't want to acknowledge the deeper issues that cause the problem.
Same goes for demands for regulation or claiming a good portion of our industry isn't already regulated to hell and back. Especially AI, since its clear the people demanding "regulation" want it outright illegalized.

It seems harder and harder to find places or things that are unscented, everything has some artificial BS scent oil all over it. Every product is scented even things like garbage bags. You go in most people’s houses and they have some plug-in oil diffuser in an outlet. Maintenance guys like plumbers are so coated in Axe body spray I can literally smell them the moment they enter the house. The only unscented products tend to be ridiculously expensive organic/natural versions. Why are poor people so enamored by offensively aggressive perfumes on everything?

I'm sick of the culture war. I just want to enjoy and discuss media without the fucking finger pointing, both directions. It's so tiresome.
I hate the fact that literally everything is analyzed to death nowadays.

It's not the people who analyze media primarily. It's that those people are reacting to the very evident hands of executives in telling stories, who provide their own spins on stories and genres and whatever.

Oh, you don't like women and blacks and gays and transes in movies, TV shows and games? NO, I don't like the very obvious executive meddling that put them there.

If a piece of entertainment is generally good, you don't sit there and think about how evident the behind-the-scenes fiddling is. You don't think about how wonderful it is that the cast is diverse. You don't think about how nice a person is who is starring in it. You think, "oh, I liked this piece of entertainment, and I would watch it again because it was a decent watch and I enjoyed the time I spent with it".

It isn't even just diversity, either. It's literally anything that is threaded throughout entertainment that takes you out of a story. Pronoun selections in games to The Rock never being able to lose an onscreen fight to endless stories about how good a person Taylor Swift is while strategically avoiding talking about how mediocre the music she makes is - it's not that we're peeking behind the curtain, it's that there's no curtain anymore.

Xitter somehow thought I should be made aware of this.

The one fallout that I despise from the culture war or the SJW vs Anti-SJW is the polarization of everything, It's either you are with us or against us mentality. It's over the most stupid shit like capeshit, video games, Star Wars and other major nerd products.

“What do you mean you don’t care?” is something I hear a lot when people try to discuss nerd shit with me

To add on to this, the visceral reaction by retards on the Internet is self defeating. If a piece of media has something about it you detest, making a big screech about it brings eyeballs to it. The creators and financiers know this, and seek it.

Simply put… if you don’t like something then IGNORE IT. Don’t give them the satisfaction of upsetting you. Jesus Christ.

The big problem creators face nowadays, and that seems to be borne out by the state of media in general, is that it seems hate-reacting is big business.

The thing that kicked it off was James Rolfe's reaction to Ghostbusters 2016. Anyone paying attention would have shrugged and said, okay, moving on, but it's clear that most people in line to heap derision on the guy weren't paying atttention. They wanted someone to heap their preconceived notions of being a nerd on and feel good about hating people. Hell, that was Gamergate. That was the left's conception of Trump. Anything to prick up what you should think is the enemy., and the media, and alt-media, went ahead and monetized it.
