Your analysis is on the mark, imo, I'd only disagree on judging the characters. Kevin is a pussy who waits to see which way the wind has blown before committing to a side. He doesn't much care who wins, so long as he gets to keep posting and get social approval in his circles. Al, as much of a disingenuous dickhead as he is, at least puts something at risk.

That's what makes it funny though. Clearly, they saw what happened when the right wingers moved platforms that kept failing, one after the other and at best became bubbles. So why would they think themselves moving around would result in anything else?

This is their entire weltanschauung: that they're uniquely special and not constrained by anything that constrained anyone else. The problem isn't the platform it's the people using it who have set themselves up as unofficial content moderators for the space. If you violate their particular sense of woke propriety, they will do their best to drive you off with whatever wild claims and personal attacks they can muster.
