Obviously nobody is expecting Trump to be a Luigi wife, but he could have played into the populist angle - "it's a dark days for our country, it's proof how badly the Dems are running our healthcare, we'll ensure justice for everyone involved", etc cetera. It was a bit of a laugh to see someone like Trump judge Luigi's moral character and integrity. Brian Thompson died like the dog he was, and in fact he died much faster than the thousands he condemned slowly wasting away from cancer because their treatment claims were denied. If you really expect the President to come out and praise the assassination of a CEO and say the murderer is a pretty cool guy with skibiddi rizz you're a delusional redditor.
Ok, but what machine is Trump destroying? For all his talk of draining the swamp, Trump's cabinet are either Deep State allies and operatives, career politicians or billionaires; so are his major donors like (((Miriam Adelson))). The machine, as far as I can tell, is operating with full force and the massive issues in American society like healthcare, cost of living, housing, etc. are not being dealt with. Trump's ever-changing rhetoric is irrelevant, what is he actually doing? As I've mentioned earlier, someone doesn't have to BELIEVE in a cause to further it, especially accidentally. He doesn't need to hate the machine or want to destroy it to cause lasting damage. If he thinks he's fixing it and ends up wrecking it (or weakening it severely enough that someone more competent can come along and finish the job), that's still a desirable outcome. If the machine wrecks itself trying to get at him because it has whipped itself into a frenzy and believe he will harm it, that's still a desirable outcome. If he crashes this whole thing with no survivors, that's still preferable to its current trajectory.
Come to think about it, Edward Snowden is probably the most anti-Establishment American in the modern age, and Trump refused to pardon him in his first term.
