It just outs every one of these people who were 100% okay with omnibuses for ukraine and israel now claim to have always been for single issue bills. I will also guarantee you the moment Trump threatens a veto on their pet projects they will go back to the omnibus.

I'm 99% sure potato Joe and friends were rushed to DC to have them on standby in case the bill situation goes south and they need some pen flips.

The "agreement" says that House Republicans will raise the debt limit by $1.5T in the "first reconciliation package" alongside a promise to CUT $2.5T in "net mandatory spending in the reconciliation process."

you see that claim on nearly every single advertisement for an AI product, how can you possibly say "no one claimed to just run a LLM and be done with it?"

you're equating the failure of a human to the failure of a neural network, which are not the same thing. the fundamental difference is that a human has some type of process that they can review and iterate on. a neural network does not have any of the underlying mechanisms or heuristics that humans have evolved to process information. humans don't make simple fuckups like "there are 12 states with the letter P" let alone continue that line of thought with compounding incorrect statements. if a neural network gives you a bad output it doesn't even know why it gave you the output and cannot explain its reasoning. it can put together a retroactive statement that sounds like a good explanation about why its thought processes failed, but if you start testing it even slightly it falls apart. its just an incredibly sophisticated markov chain bot that can parse text just as well as it can spit it out.

when you consider the computational requirements of this milquetoast performance (the smallest instance of llama requires the most expensive and powerful consumer video card on the market, the middle size requires a server with 8 gpus that cost $25000 each, and the large size requires eight of those servers) it really boggles the mind how anybody defends this shit

Let’s be real for a minute. Democrats got SOME things they wanted and Republiccians got SOME things they wanted in the original bill. Republicans came out slightly ahead. Pretty balanced; yeah a little pork here and there but nothing unusual.

The idea the entire bill was all for democrats is just folly - it’s the Republican GOP that put the bill together.

It is just insane to lay blame on the minority House when it is the Majority House that runs the rule book.

If Trump wants total hardball and wants that debt ceiling gone for two years then yeah, he is entitled to demand that but the House isn’t obligated to do anything he asks - it is Mikes choice. Mike I think knows his days are numbered anyways because he can’t possibly keep the majority happy as well as Trump. You can’t do a balancing act when one side (Trump versus hardcore FC) each want the heavy end, it just can’t work.

Mike has done better than I thought he would, but he isn’t a fucking magician.

AFAIK, the inauguration is just a fancy ceremony—one that Trump is largely funding himself because he didn't want Washington to be involved in his transition team. I also think it's like historic societies and other orgs that help organize it.

If for some reason they all dropped the ball, Trump would still become the next president, but he wouldn't have the fancy ceremony on Jan 20.

The 20th Amendment guarantees the inauguration takes place but a government shutdown effecting the day to day work of the federal government could potentially lead to a more disorganized presidential transition period which may or may not effect how some proceedings go on January 20.
