It's not just hormones. It never has been. That's very reductive. Men have larger hearts on average, greater lung capacity, denser bones, and different ratios and angles to their bodies that makes their athletic performance different from women. Selecting for hormone levels would not change that, the men would still dominate women physically in this arena because higher testosterone is not the only advantage they have in that regard. It speaks to great ignorance of human bodies and to athletic achievements to only argue on the hormone angle.
Well, and it's also important to keep in mind that testosterone isn't magic strong juice on its own.
Testosterone doesn't itself make you strong. It makes building muscle easier and that muscle itself is what makes you strong. And maintaining muscle is a lot easier than building new muscle.
The implication of this is that you can take any massive male bodybuilder or MMA fighter or anyone like that and completely suppress their testosterone production, and it wouldn't turn them into weak girly men overnight, unable to open pickle jars. They'd still have all of the muscle they had two weeks prior. They just need to maintain it with exercise.
Don't get me wrong, without testosterone, that exercise will be miserable. It will be hard fucking work and unpleasant as shit without the steroid effects that testosterone brings. But it won't be impossible.
And that's more or less the situation you have with basically any actively training troon athlete.
Tons of doughy computer nerd troons make these arguments about sports and whatnot because they themselves are out of shape, doughy computer nerds. But that's not the selection pool we're talking about. Troon athletes aren't people sampled from the average troon population and trained up to become athletes.
They're existing athletes that troon out and maintain all of their existing athletic prowess.
Like Lia Thomas, as much of a loser sports-wise he was a a dude, he was still an actively training athlete. His pathway to troonery didn't turn him into Yaniv or Jazz Jennings, physique-wise, before he ended up in his transwomanhood. No. He went from (middling) athletic dude to (middling) athletic dude in a dress, competing against women.
