Authorities arrested a man in connection to a domestic violence incident that resulted in the beheading death of a one-year-old child.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says that at approximately 4:15 a.m. Friday, deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on the 7500 block of Versailles Way in North Sacramento County for reports of a family disturbance.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies located a female outside of the residence, who stated that her husband, identified as 28-year-old Andrey Demskiy, had assaulted her and her mother.
Authorities say that the mother was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance for her non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies attempted to make contact with Demskiy at the residence, but authorities say that Demskiy refused to answer the door and surrender peacefully.
According to authorities, deputies learned a short time later than a one-year-old male child was inside of the residence alone with Demskiy and that Demskiy had possibly injured the child after throwing him.
Authorities say that deputies forced entry into the residence and attempted to detain Demskiy, who was uncooperative and became physically resistive.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says that as deputies detained Demskiy, they made the gruesome discovery of a child's head that had been severed in the bedroom where authorities contacted and arrested Demskiy.
Upon the discovery of the severed head, detectives from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Child Abuse Bureau responded to the scene along with crime scene investigators.
Authorities say that based on the investigation into the incident, detectives were able to determine that Demskiy was initially involved in a domestic violence incident with his wife and her mother when they both exited the residence and waited for deputies to respond.
After the wife and mother exited the residence, authorities say that Demskiy used a knife to murder and behead his one-year-old son.
Demskiy was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains in custody ineligible for bail.
Authorities say that Demskiy will make his first court appearance on December 24.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says the identity of the child will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office in accordance to their protocols.
