Incompetence is a common theme. Read the judgements in this case. This case should have bankrupted the law firm. They were his attorneys for more than 2 years.
So this law firm is so shit they defaulted on what seems to be a meritorious medical malpractice claim by FAILING TO SERVE THE DEFENDANT? And instead of just properly serving, they argued "waaaah I don't wanna!" That's Greer-tier.
I was going to make the 'gaol' statement, so I am gldlad someone else did. It is a Wilde-ism.
It was also how people referred to it at the time, even if it's mainly remembered in that spelling for Wilde's poem about it (and for Wilde having served time there).

I don't see how a few spellings are conclusory when it's entirely possible to mimic them anyway. Exactly how hard is it just to pretend you're H.P. Lovecraft and spell it "colour" and shit like that?
The funny thing is Nick is using a Barneswalker for a lawyer. And he didn't raise any of those arguments in the Franks motion.
It's because of Nick's hubris in assuming somehow, that piss-weak motion was a slam dunk. I mean why bother even arguing anything else when Frank's your uncle?

Remember how smug Balldo and that leaf fool Frei and that Boss Baby looking faggot Barnes were about that? They were absolutely certain that piece of dog shit was a winner.

It occurs to me that the file says "Reply Memora...(Rekieta)" and the document we previously knew him to have written was the appeal. But that file appears to be Rekieta's reply relating to the initial Franks motion; the attempted interlocutory appeal did not reach the stage where they would be replying to anyone. Since it was previously speculated that different people may have written the initial motion and the reply based on the difference in style, the fact that Lewis has the reply on his desktop may be a decent clue as to what may have happened.
If I am following you correctly, you think Nick hired White, and White is offloading much of the work on Lewis?

Funny if true. Lewis has only been practicing since 2017. He's even less experienced than Rekieta.

On an intellectual level, I don't disagree with you, but here's the thing...

Nick stuck Vic with Ty Beard, who can't fucking notarize shit properly.

I will shed not one single tear if Nick hired incompetent ass attorneys on the advice of that windbag Barnes, and gets shafted because of it.

Couldn't have happen to a bigger PoS. It's poetic, even.

Besides, Nick can't win even if he had the best defense team that ever practiced law.

Nick has sadi many times that he does not believe in university education outside some hard-core STEM degrees.

He also admitted he never put any Vic/Depp/Rittenhouse money away for the above reason and because his children want to be online streamers.
Nick said that because he knows mom and dad will pay for the kids, and because he thinks being against college gives him conservative street cred.

Does anyone really believe a bunch of upper-middle-class kids who get carted to violin lessons all day won't be sent to the nicest college that'll take them?

In other news, Nick's back on Twitter but does little of interest besides arguing with Spectre and reminding people he still has his law license.

As a general sentiment, I'd agree with this, but you gotta consider that Rackets' children are going to have so much damn baggage once they enter adulthood that I doubt they're going to want to attend college. I'm pretty sure that all five of them will be rebels against any type of institution of power (I do not mean this as an honorific) and likely have incredibly enmity towards institutions of higher learning, such as those that gave their father a law degree. They're going to be too traumatized and emotionally stunted to want to go to college. Besides, having the extra anchor of having to owe your dad for sending you to college is not a tether these kids would want.,

Filing on the last possible day to be timely under the Statute of Limitations and blowing service due to your inattentiveness is pretty wild, but not something that I haven't seen before.

Funny if true. Lewis has only been practicing since 2017. He's even less experienced than Rekieta.
Seven years of practice should be plenty of time to be a self-sufficient practitioner able to handle all aspects of litigation, unless you're like Rekieta who never seriously practiced. Lewis seems to just be mediocre, but not due to lack of experience. Some people just suck as attorneys because they never learned how to be good.

I believe Nick is that much of a narcissist that he would sabotage his own children either to have more money for his personal endeavors or out of a sense of jealousy.

Multinational business communication has forced some changes in my grammar, vocabulary, and spelling. 'Washroom' over 'loo' and other cases that I find more widely understood.
The worst are similar meaning words that have subtle differences in use or vulgarity.

Saying that something is 'brilliant.'
The relative vulgarity of spaz vs retard
Asking to go to the toilet vs bathroom

These are hard to explain to English speakers that haven't experienced it culturally. It's really hard to say one is socially acceptable, the other is barbarian. If you use 'brilliant' to describe your toddler using a fork for the first time, think 'spazzed out' is incredibly offensive or ask for directions to the toilet - you may be English.

PPP and Warski laundering information seems an interesting theory...
My newest guess is it was Aaron and when he proudly told his lawyer he was like: "OMFG, SHUT IT DOWN! SHUT IT DOWN!"
I admit, its very unlikely, but it is the exact type of gayop faggotry Aaron would pull to get slapped with another charge , because he is a retard of exactly the right type.

Yes, because:

1. He's selfish and will absolutely destroy their future to fuel his own vices.
2. Part of the reason people here make fun of the 2am underwater basket weaving lessons is because they think he's grossly overstating what he does for the kids. Gets pulled over by a cop? Kids. Fails to meet a commitment he makes to his audience? Kids.

If they do go to college, and I certainly hope they have that chance, it'll be on the grandparent's dime.

Well, if White is his mentor, and Barnes is White's mentor...

My favorite is still "pissed."

Am I drunk or angry?

Probably varies from state to state but in some jurisdictions you can pay a private investigator $100 and they'll serve process for you. It takes a couple of phone calls to arrange.

What a bitch.

This is correct, though funny bc he sure wouldn't have been able to become a lolyer without having had a degree. ....though on reflection, perhaps he is Exhibit A for why not to spend money on school for work-shy idiots.

But still, without that attorney card, he'd still be washing out at calling bank leads. With it, he was able to wash out as a lawyer AND as a lawyer-commentator.

Well, his parents didn't send Nick to a nice college. And as poorly ranked as his school is (at or near bottom for all MN schools), a little grease could have gotten him into one slightly nicer. Might not have had an "all welcome" cheerleading squad, though.

And afaict, Nick's kids don't do anything every other kid of middle-class+ kids do. He acts as though it's so extraordinary and such a hardship (FOR HIM).

In MN it can be anyone over 18 except someone party to the action. So you can ask your brother to do it.

MN Rule of Civil Procedure 4:

4.02By Whom Served

Unless otherwise ordered by the court, the sheriff or any other person not less than 18 years of age and not a party to the action, may make service of a summons or other process.

Honestly, I didn't know much about Jeff (Legal Vices), but a lot of people seemed to really like him.
Slightly out of topic, but Jeff was a great man. He seemed to be liked by everyone that interacted with him. That is particullarly worthy of mentioning because he was part of lawtube, which is filled with drama, gay ops and feuds. But he seemengly was on good terms with everyone. He was a cheerful man who focused on producing content around his interest, the law and ships. May his soul rest in peace.

Me either but it falls well below the threshold of mere mediocrity, somewhere into swirling around the toilet as it flushes.

Throw in posting weird, whiny tweets disclosing attorney/client privileged information while simultaneously insulting your client? That's actually deep in the sewer.

People were able to figure out instantly who this client was and what case law this cretin was researching in his seethepost. He may very well have entirely blown attorney/client for all purposes by that post alone.

In this case, it wasn't the physical mechanism of how the defendant was served, but what he was served. Lewis failed to include jurisdictionally relevant and statutorily required materials, specifically the waiver of service of process document by which a defendant can waive formal service and by doing so, obtain an extension of time in which to respond to the complaint (mirroring the federal rule on the same subject).

Attempted service without including it, which is a form available on the public Internet, is invalid. Even the nolo type sites will tell laypeople how they can do this.

An actual "lawyer" failed to do it. This is beyond mere inadvertent failure.

Attached is the actual form this fucking retard failed to include with his failed attempt to serve a defendant (literally the first thing even a dumb lawyer figures out how to do). I found it in less than a minute after reading the part of the ruling throwing out what appears not to have been a lolsuit, but an actually legitimate medical malpractice claim, for failing to include it.

A minute of time could have saved some guy with a wrecked spine his legal claim.

It is more indicative in consistency over a long period of time--as was observed here. Not conclusive or settled, but more than nothing. Such things have proven to be the intimate chunk that opens an eventual breakthrough in lolcow lore before.

This is Nick. I do not put anyhtig past him if he is in charge of the decision. I agree that the grandparents would bankroll, as needed.

My newest guess is it was Aaron and when he proudly told his lawyer he was like: "OMFG, SHUT IT DOWN! SHUT IT DOWN!"

That would me monumentally retarded if Aaron did that. No evidence either way, but I want to put it on the record as faggotry, if true.

They did send him to a better school (Minnesota State, I believe) where he flunked his classes the first year...by not showing up... After that was his transfer to the less expensive and prestigious SMSU where he finally completed his degree.

Is it possible that Nick grew up in a similar environment to the one he is generating? Most of us, myself included, like to think that his parents were good people going to herculean efforts to tardwrangle an unwrangleable tard, but is it possible that his freshman tardery was the result of coming from a chaotic environment and not having time to breathe? It wouldn't justify the future acts of dipshittery, but is it possible that his parents were also hedonists who neglected him? I know he laments that they didn't share about their sex life (disturbing statement), but were they heroes fighting an impossible battle or similar degens? Do we know one way or the other?

Hilarious if true but they did un-nuke the account with the stated purpose of allowing for archiving. If a lawyer wanted it buried, that would defeat the purpose.
