Between Elon snatching up the dead Occupy Wall St account to post at the large swathes of the site that has blocked him and the insane torrent of inorganic traffic earlier today when Elon was sperging about congress passing a budget he didn't like, I've decided that Xitter is no longer usable for me. Everyone I follow has either massively scaled back their posting or just left the site entirely and it's an endless sea of TRVE MAGA PATRIOTS (joined 2024) verified accounts dumping ass all over my timeline.

There was a brief period for like a year after he took over where the site wasn't a gay race communism hugbox and was actually pretty fun. But the amount of spam and straight-up fake accounts along with Elon forcing his retarded capos (esp his pet leafjeet kache) into my timeline has made it unpleasant to use.

I think I'll replace my twitter doomscrolling with something more productive like crossword puzzles or day drinking.

He reforged twitter to become a major source for social strife, and undermining of democracy, which he himself supports. Not by exposing issues, but by making things up, lying, misleading audiences. Some of them are actively working with avowed enemies of the United States, running info ops for these governments. Musk is perfectly happy to participate in that.
The biggest accounts make millions of dollars doing that and those are the accounts he regularly boosts.

I think there's a good chance that he is actively malicious and working to destroy western countries. I can't think of any other explanation for his activities.

Ego aside - Elon's only value to Trump is getting him elected. Trump has now been elected. Trump cannot be elected again.

Ergo Elon now has very little value to Trump. He's not a Republican lizardman that can get other lizards on Trump's side. He's not an important person in the high-tech space anymore (Trump already has Zuck, Bezos, Cook, and even the bytedance guy coming to kiss the ring). Congrats to Elon Musk for tanking the Outbound Investment legislation that was part of the Bill he spewed out tweets about to kill. Note that every almost every republcian was on-board with the Bill until Musk blurted out lies via X to kill it. The Outbound investment would have effected his ability to use technology in China for his factories.

Note that Elon was the only winner. Trump did not get his Ceing Limit removed but Elon got the Outbound Investment clauses stripped from the final bill that passed.

And all it took was typing a few tweets. Remarkable.

The only thing I like about Twitter right now is the community notes feature.

It brings me joy to watch people and organizations get called out on bullshit they would have been allowed to get away with pre-takeover. It's a great tool to fight misinformation and sadly will not be implemented on Bluesky or other hugboxes that most of Elon's haters flocked too.

I think with the slow migration to other platforms like mastodon and Bluesky the door can be open to bring back regular old forums, with maybe a little retooling to be more appealing to normies and the zoomers. Vote-based systems should be entirely abolished when it comes to which posts gain the most visibility over others, I much think the version where you can react to a post like here on the farms is good enough to signal of a post is popular.

Personally its much simpler, Elon is just an egotistical, greedy dumbass that loves the power that he has and wants more of it. Elon has no long-term goals that lie beyond himself.
