I've seen a few of Polanski's films and while I generally agree with you, I think The Pianist was great. Although it's no excuse for his crimes, both real and alleged, you can't deny that Roman Polanski had a fucked up life. First, dealing with the Hoholocaust, and his mother passing away, and later having his pregnant wife's murder being the cultural zeitgeist that summed up the end of the 60's. I really don't think anyone could deal with all of that and not come out the other side of it at least somewhat fucked up.It wasn't even like Roman Polanski, to pick another Jewish director, because while Polanski's crimes were equally vile, Woody Allen's films almost depended on him being a likeable nebbish. That lens of enjoyment of his films is totally destroyed by what a vile person he actually is.
Polanski's films, by comparison, could really only have come from a truly sick and degenerate mind. Look at the whole plot of Chinatown. They're great films, but they come from a deeply sick place. It's not like your illusions were ever shattered about a guy like Polanski.
I honestly thought that Kreskin had already been dead for at least a decade so this news is quite astonishing to me.
The Amazing Kreskin, the most famous mentalist died at the age of 89.
Wow that's really sad. Brain aneurysm is such a freaky way to die. Lights out with no warning.
Local news anchor Ana Orsini died at the age of 28.
Came here to post this.per George Noory/CoasttoCoastAM, Sean David Morton has died. He used to be a guest in the Art Bell days.
Former Oakland Athletics star, Rickey Henderson dies at 65.
Henderson, who grew up in Oakland, was a first baseman for the A's in the 1980s and 1990s.
Additionally, Henderson won two World Series championships during his career—one in 1989 with Oakland and another in 1993 with Toronto. He spent most of his career playing left field and earned the Gold Glove Award in 1981.
In September, Henderson and fellow legend Dave Stewart threw out the first pitch when the A's played their last game at the Oakland Coliseum.
“I can’t be sad,” he said to the San Francisco Chronicle at the time. “I have too much money, and I did too much here, all these great things here. I’m more happy than sad. Maybe later it will hit you when it’s all said and done. But, honestly, today I’m going to have fun.”
You may think you hate journalists enough, etc.Fucking journoscum. Can't even bother to proofread or do simple fact checks for a legend's obituary.
Wrelster Rey Misterio died at the age of 66.
Not the same guy. The one you're referencing is the son; it was his dad who died.
Only being a casual wrestling fan, my memories of Rey Mysterio come from his acrobatics in WCW v. NWO: World Tour from the N64 in 1997.
It's shit like this that probably fuelled my journo hate from a young age. When they fuck up completely apolitical things like this, I won't trust them for much of anything else. It's laughable if you know even the slightest bit about baseball to imagine having him play first base (outside of some kind of freak emergency basis that would only occur for a few innings of a single game.) With his size and overall athletic attributes, employing him as a first baseman would be like looking at Manny Pacquiao and referencing him as the former heavyweight champion of the world.Fucking journoscum. Can't even bother to proofread or do simple fact checks for a legend's obituary.
