Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

FF15 failed because it started life in 2013 as project Nova Crystalis and then as Project Verses 13 both of which were canceled and reworked into what would eventually become FF15.
Other way around. It actually started development in 2006 as FF Verses XIII before it got rebooted as FFXV in 2013. Nova Crystalis was the name of the FFXIII "Compilation" that included FFXIII trilogy, Verses XIII and FF Type 0.

I know you're being sarcastic, but you really do an excellent job of highlighting how truly stupid the modern game devs are.
Lara Croft was every bit as tough as Indiana Jones and she was hot as fuck. The male gaze is a good thing, and catering to it is one of the biggest reasons that gaming has survived as an industry all these years.
It's funny having these people who insist on women being more than just their looks will dismiss any attractive female character as just being a pair of tits with nothing else to offer. Of course, said people never actually played those games, and so have no idea what's actually happening in them, but ignorance never stops idiots from rambling on.

They dismiss an attractive character in am action game by asking the developer, "Why did you make her so attractive?" The answer, of course, is, "because the male audience of this game likes pretty girls." To which the response is, "You mean you created her to satisfy the male gaze? Do you realize how sexist that is? How dehumanizing it is to women?" Since nearly all game developers are libs, he will hang his head in shame, say, "I...I'm sorry, I'll try to do better," make the female character ugly, and hire a disgusting hambeast to oversee art and character direction.

It will never cross his mind to ask a pretty girl if she finds it dehumanizing to be pretty or to be liked by men, because software engineers don't know any pretty girls.

Unless they staple their stupid "Galaxy.dll" file to the game and you try running it on a computer using Windows XP/CPU lacking SSE2

All modern x86 machines support SSE2. Must be some other problem.

Also all of the trannies that work in game development that want to feel represented by having the female characters look like men.

Has any game produced in the west managed to make an actual strong female character in the last 15 years? Although perhaps Japan fired the first shot as I think Metroid: Other M started off the trend of making powerful women weak and pathetic, the only difference being that Samus was being useless in a skin tight outfit and didn't have a manish face. Now all female characters have to be fat, ugly and useless because they might appeal to men otherwise.

We can't have a female character like Clarice from Silence of the Lambs or Red Sonja anymore, holding a gun or a sword is too masculine so therefore they would have to be trans or non-binary, and if they aren't a fat snarky cow then both sexes might like them so quick, enlarge their chin and give them cellulite.

Jesse Faden from Control?
Starts off as a scared young woman drawn into a spooky skyscraper to find her younger brother.
Ten minutes later, she's appointed to director of a massive goverment agency by picking up a magic gun.
Twenty hours and over many challenges, trials and setbacks, she gradually grows into the leader and heroine needed to save the agency/world/brother.
The character has a wide jaw, yes, but, so does the cute actress who plays her.

Jesse is a great character and throughout the game she's focused on the task at hand like a proper hero. I really liked Control and her as a character. Here's hoping they don't fuck it up for the sequel! I also really liked the main character of Returnal and I'd consider her to also be a well-written strong character that also happens to be a woman.

You actually own the game when you buy on GOG.
The first and only time I tried using GOG I couldn't create an account because they gave me a picture of a captcha. Fuck that.

Thread tax: if your game doesn't do enough to set itself apart from its inspirations then it absolutely warrants being called a clone.
You can't call any cutesy 2D pixel art top-down farming sim with combat and romance a Stardew Valley clone without getting a rabid horde on your ass, even if you don't mean it as criticism. I'm not against having more than one game in a genre, but if your game could pass for a mod don't expect me not to notice.

I hate kikes who spend thousands of dollars on NASA supercomputers with rainbow LEDS to run fucking minecraft at like 500 frames per second and complain when it only gets 200. The human eye cannot fucking detect anything above 60 fps and 30 fps is enough for like 90% of games and you get used to it in like 10 seconds. And some of them have the audacity to run games on the lowest possible potato graphics just to get 10 more frames, nigga if I buy a supercomputer you bet I'm cranking every slider to the max, this is some moronic level of autism

It's never a game that would actually put that rig to the test like Cyberpunk 2077, is it? Shit, I hate fags who will spend that level of scratch on a rig, just to play the most basic bitch flavor of the season twitchbait garbage like Overwatch, Fortnite, or <CURRENT YEAR> Call of Duty.

Don't say that too loud in this thread, you'll get some tranny who swears that they're ZE UBERMENSCH and can see 666fps, and will shove a headache inducing slideshow reel to prove it. Nevermind that if you took the FPS indicator away, they wouldn't actually notice a difference between 60fps and 75fps or higher and it's just placebo effect if they claim to.

I can understand bottoming out the graphics in specific niche cases (like in War Thunder, playing on bottom settings removes a lot of clutter from the maps and sometimes gives you an advantage when playing ground forces), or if you're on an old rig and you're trying to achieve a stable playable framerate. But if you're already at stable and playable, why the hell would you make a game look worse for a few more frames?

Thanks for the recommendation, I really enjoyed the Roman timeloop game "Forgotten City" so Returnal should be great. I've got too much of a backlog right now, but when it hits -75% off, I'll get it.

P.S. Don't google Forgotten City, as many people spoil important plot twists.

I don't run games at a "real" 160 fps (my monitor refresh rate), but using frame interpolation definitely makes turning quickly feel smoother in FPSes. I do notice when I've forgotten to turn it on. More of a "nice to have" though. Played plenty of 30 fps console games BITD and didn't go blind.

Or Fortnite, a game that runs on a potato. My favorite is gaming review sites that say a CPU that can't achieve 300 fps in some marquee title is "unsuitable for gaming."

I can only tell the difference between FPS if it's a side by side comparison. I don't notice or care about how many FPS I get during gameplay unless it drops or it's something like 15 FPS.

Isn't Forgotten City the game that started as a Skyrim mod? I heard it was pretty high quality stuff but never tried it myself.

I would actually be okay with modern Naughty Dog making a new Jak and Daxter game. The way I see it, it'll go one of two ways: If it's good, then great. If it's bad, then nothing really changes. The originals that I grew up with will always exist and we'll just not talk about the reboot, same thing happened with Ratchet and Clank when they made that movie tie in (which I enjoyed actually)

The ones that have these rigs funnily enough aren't the ones who are bragging they're the ones playing the games not caring about flexing their rig. I can't say i wouldn't be one of those people if i had an ultra rig i'd be running C Tier nobody indie games too because it comes down to what is interesting to me to play. Most peolpe who do this annoy me because they're the ones who want all these boring looking hyper realistic games with raytracing and all these dynamic things that are a pain in the ass to optimize and jack up the cost of development.
