I think the funniest thing about anime avatar haters is of that some of them aren't aware that not all Japanese style avatars are anime. Visual novels are not anime. Manga is not anime. You wouldn't call a novel a newspaper. You don't call cartoons books. I'm just helping you out because you can come off as kinda weird not knowing that. Anime is an art form (which you can like or not), and yes, some/a lot is also a corporate product aimed at kids and adults as well; some are a low common denominator, some others are not.

And I don't think any good western animation remains, aside from South Park. All the good ones became trash, like Family Guy and Simpsons, and I won't even bother with anything newer than Rick & Morty (which got old quick and was overrated to begin with).
