When Bonnie Ross took over Halo, one of her ambitions was to make Halo "the Star Wars of gaming". Not only did she succeed (in the negative sense), but the truth is that Halo was always the Star Wars of gaming. That is, it had a very successful original trilogy, but it had nowhere else to go. Just like you can only see the same X-wings and AT-ATs before you realize how shallow it all is, in Halo you can't end the great war only for it to immediately go back to square one in the next game.
Bonnie Ross was the Kathleen Kennedy of 343. Halo 4 was The Force Awakens for the franchise: "same story but bigger vehicles, ships and locations".

Would it kill them to add some new unsc and covenant vehicles so the banshee isnt the only aircraft in MP? Its not 2004 anymore.
You are asking way to much from 343/Halo Studios. They have added a SMG that looks like a BR with AR sound effects so most of the time you think the weapon dispensers have a BR but it's the SMG. They also didn't bother to add it to the weapon customization menu.
I wish they would replace the mongoose with the gungoose on every map and gamemode. The mongoose is useless in Firefight KotH.

I'd love to fly the Vulture gunship or use the Locust walker.
or the Metal Gear Mantis.

Got recommended this today:

TLDW: Some literal who talks about the decline of popular Halo youtubers, takes several minutes to get to the point, spends more time sperging about how "woke is fake" and "muh grifters", dismisses and barely goes into detail about Halofollower's EPI tier goonerslop.

Taking a look at his channel, some of his videos come across as pure ragebait. Something something I was only pretending to be retarded.

And what's this? So much for woke being a nothingburger I suppose.

Even if this is all an elaborate troll, people like Dansburst and Mariotheplumber should be good examples of how making a living LARPing as a tard for the internet to point and laugh at makes you even dumber than an actual tard.

Am I the only one who have that issue after a couple of games of Halo Infinite? I have noticed that the engine shits the bed after 30+ minutes. The customization menu can't load the assets, the playermodel turns into a low-poly model, etc.

Is this an attempt at making fun of SyntheticMan?

I believe the menu of the game is made in UE5. Yes the menu is a different game engine than the actual game. There's probably some UE5 memory leak going on.

Halo 4 stinks, but I don't see how you can say 5 or Infinite is any better.
From a pure gameplay perspective Halo 4 is the weakest entry. Halo 5 may look and play like Titanfall 2 with a halo skin and the discussion on whether the advanced movement has a place in halo or not is a different matter entirely but the weapons feel punchy, every weapon has a purpose and the game actually plays quite well and i will give them applause for making the assault rifle actually viable as opposed to being the weapon you immediatly switch out. Such a shame that the rest of the game is a trashfire. Infinite is so barebones that the campaign is basically just an open world sandbox with a loose plot that drags you from point A to B. They tried to do something new with the weapon types but it feels half baked and outside of electric EMPing vehicles and shields they do little more than exist. But again the weapons feel effective and plays well enough for what it is. Halo 4 has the better campaign story of the three and even that is only a marginal victory. Halo 4 always feels 'off' whenever i play it, it plays like a stripped down version of reach but the movement and aiming never quite feels right, like something broke in development and never got properly fixed. Then you have the weapons sandbox or lack thereof. The only new weapons are the LMG and sticky detonator which you get to use for all of 5 minutes as once you run out of ammo you are stuck using covie and forerunner shit. On the subject of the prometheans, completely unfun to fight. the crawlers at least have the decency to die in a single headshot but the knights and flying fuckers are just infuriating to fight. Flying enemies are always a pain (See: Halo 2 drones) but those fucks will throw you grenades back at you, shield other prometheans and can even ressurect the ones you already put down. Knights are just damage sponges that will straight up fuck off to heal if they are losing or will asspull an instant kill melee attack.

Halo 4 is the worst Halo campaign, the Prometheans fucking suck
Meh, it's not that bad. It felt like it could have been much better with only a few gameplay tweaks. (Prometheans shouldn't have been able to teleport, drone things shouldn't have fleed so quickly, ammo shouldn't have drained so quickly.) It's still a very fun game to play in co-op, and I do generally enjoy it solo. I honestly believe that if Bungie made Halo 4 it wouldn't have been so much different. Halo 4 just continued in the direction Reach had already gone in.

lol, lmao even
Nothing says "My studio has no talent left!" like switching from a proprietary engine to UE slop.
it's less about talent and more about being cheap as fuck, which considering MS is a trillion dollar company is ironic as fuck. they could get top talent if they wanted to, but they don't.

as @Spergichu said i343 especially is notorious for only hiring people on 18 months contracts to get around paying benefits, and for engine work you still need competent people (otoh that's the same company in charge of running the operating system a large part of the world uses, and we all know what that looks like), even ubisoft manages that. UE just makes it cheaper and easier because that's what get taught these days, so no need to spend money training your own guys or keep someone who knows the inhouse engine.

Halo 4 was The Force Awakens for the franchise: "same story but bigger vehicles, ships and locations".
shit like that is why I don't have much hope for a Halo 7 at least campaign-wise, I think the best case scenario is either a hard reboot or re-doing the story from after Halo 3 to come up with a new threat that isn't le Forerunner Bionicle's Post-Covenant war, Multiplayer in my personal opinion is in a better-spot, as long as the next games launches with enough maps and modes (and forge ideally) then they wont run into the issues they did with Infinite

You seem to be missing the absolute retardation inherent in the fact that they use an entirely separate game engine for the menus and an entirely separate engine for the gameplay.

That alone is a stunning case of "What the fuck were they thinking?" over anything else.

Since there aren't any active Destiny/Bungie threads as far as I'm aware of, I'll just post about this here. Destiny 2 is down the shitter, currently having hit record lows in its player count, down to just 11k on Steam. I quit myself after the latest DLC because even though it was good, the proceeding content was just the regular slop and the game still has a lot of problems with it. This is intentional from the upper management at Bungie, with them having stated that they intentionally don't overdeliver so that they can keep player expectations low, but this alongside neglect of the core of the game has led to many people quitting and even the Destiny youtubers to have to diversify their content to other games to keep their channels alive. Just like Halo, a real shame.

I remember when they gave away Destiny 2 for free for anyone who used Battle.net, back when Bungie was still part of Activision. I never even played the slop, that's how irrelevant that was and we're talking 6-7 years ago when I assume the game was in a much better state.
Modern day Bungie is just a joke, there is no denying it. How they coasted off of one game for so long is beyond me, people would joke that they are just a Halo factory but even then they made NEW Halo games, not just creating endless content for one entry.

Actually, that's par on the course with 343i retardation. Their proprietary engine is so old and archaic that I can believe it can't do certain things, there is a reason why Infinite took so long to make.

The MCC also has uses UE on top of the games.

Marty might have some schadenfreude on the news of bungie's implosion.

Earlier this year, Bungie laid off 220 employees, bringing its headcount down to approximately 850 from a peak of 1,600 just a year ago.
Here’s a look at Bungie’s current and former C-suite:
  • Chief Executive Officer: Pete Parsons
  • Chief Development Officer: Justin Truman
  • Chief Technology Officer: Luis Villegas (Transitioned to PlayStation as Head of Technology)
  • Chief Financial Officer: Danielle Porter
  • Chief Vision Officer: Jason Jones
  • Chief Strategy Officer: Ondraus Jenkins (Left in October 2024 per LinkedIn profile)
  • Chief Creative Officer: Jonny Ebbert (Left, according to X profile)
  • Chief Operating/People Officer:Holly Barbacovi (Left July 2024 – Joined Hasbro as Chief People Officer)
    • Barbacovi was serving as the Chief People Officer until March 2024.
  • Chief Legal Officer: Don McGowan (laid off in October 2023)

And this would be familiar to Marty.
In other Bungie-related news, former director Chris Barrett has filed a lawsuit against the Destiny developer and Sony Interactive Entertainment, alleging wrongful termination to avoid paying Barrett $45 million.
