The murder she was most derided for was the first one, even though that’s also the least sympathetic ”victim” (and the credibility of her self defence claim is actually really strong), though like you say, they were all rapists.Unlike Moid serial killers, Aileen Wurornos actually did the world a favor by killing Johns’s. A net positive, even. No good man participates in sex trafficking because they’re always looking for someone to abuse or murder. I’m sure all of you girlies are aware of how often street walkers turn up with bruises or dead from how much the Johns will take their anger out onto them.
Her last interview is interesting because, unlike most Moid serial killers, she makes no excuses for her actions and just owns them.
It’s why I hate when she’s classed alongside degenerates like Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer. She never extensively tortured her victims, never engaged in cannibalism nor did she have a sexual motive.
Moids in the justice system and true crime community are terrified of raw female rage. The idea of anyone committing serial murders without a sexual motivation is terrifying to them.
Her first ”victim” was known to be a violent man and had been previously convicted of rape in another state. Wuornos claimed she shot him in self-defence after he tried to rape her, the prosecution argued that she was a prostitute so she should have just let herself be raped. Prostitution is rape, and you should be allowed to use lethal force to defend yourself from rape, so to condemn her to death for defending herself is inexcusable. But I do think she put herself in that position on purpose, at least in the latter killings.
I’m almost certain the first killing was legitimate self-defence. The subsequent ones were caused by opportunism; she’d gotten away with the first killing and was able to sell the car and any valuables the rapist had on him, which would have been a financial windfall. This coincidentally makes it incorrect to call her a serial killer, the term is not supposed to apply to someone who kills solely for financial gain, which probably was the case for Wuornos. She was diagnosed with psychopathy, which contrary to what the stereotype is, actually makes this economic angle more likely, ie she found some John she’d normally turn away because he seemed unhinged or dangerous, and took advantage of the ensuing situation to get some money so she wouldn’t have to be homeless.
