Mega Rad Gun Thread

What’s a good pistol mag holder I can throw on a 2 inch molle weave belt? Ideally I want to have a cant angle so I don’t have to fully rotate a magazine 180°. Retention bungee is a plus.

Matech or KAC micro?

Here's one that I'd feel confident using.

Please tell me about it. Even better, post some pics when you get it.
Currently I'm in a cool down period for buying handguns but I'll have it around 1/12. The only picture I have currently has my FFL's info which I'd rather not share here for privacy reasons. So the backstory is that as a joke with a friend we talked about doing matching Clint Eastwood costumes for Halloween 2025 and we both needed to find a 29 or 629. I found one on guns.com for $880 and was waiting until my next paycheck to get it. Meanwhile, I asked my FFL if they knew anyone selling one and they said they didn't but would keep an eye out. Two weeks later I walk in because I needed to do the 4473 for other guns and sitting in the display case was a used 629 with a 6" barrel and the rubber S&W grip for $800, it came from someone who was red flagged and decided to sell everything off. It wasn't in the store for a day when I bought it. I fully intend on buying wood grips.

Reminds me of shooting my dad's Cobra FS380, where the safety flips down to fire. It falls out of safe if you bump the gun. I imagine an Alien would have a bit more reliability but it still makes me wonder why they designed it like that when there's already a thumbrest/safety literally right below it. It just makes me appreciate the CZ 75 safety even more, where the grip I use to fire the gun is the exact same I use to release the safety if I need to. No fiddling with it or readjusting grip to reach the safety, so flipping back to safe is also instant.

Complications like this seem to explain why people created grip safeties and bladed trigger safeties in the first place, especially for duty/concealed carry.

Edit: Found a photo of the Cobra safety, it's pretty hilariously simple, doesn't seem to have any way to apply tension to keep it from falling in or out of safe.View attachment 6784974
That's what happens when you prioritize low cost over literally everything else. That operates the same as a Raven MP25 safety, which is not a surprise as the Cobra automatics (as well as many other Saturday night specials) are just copies of the Raven action scaled to different calibers.

What is the point of a $4k EDC that won't run if its dirty, or gets too hot to handle after a couple of mags?

If I'm going to EDC something expensive as fuck that gets too hot after a few magazines, its at least going to be a gun that fucking works if it gets dirty.

Like this one.

My dad is an engineer and collects p7s his daily is an m8 he's got a psp an m10 stainless 40.

Absolutely lovely pistols. I'm a simp and tbh I'm not a huge HK fan but the engineer genes geek me out on it. He's offered to sell me the psp and I can afford it but I'm a cheap fgt (also I'll get it when he croaks) so I carry my glawk .

If you never actually ran a mag in a p7 honestly do it before you speak on them. I'm not trying to be mean but it's such a odd ball you can't say oh i understand it's system. I get it.

Really nice gun super cool.

Back when P7's were still under $1k I came across one and finger fucked it. Really liked the squeeze to cock concept that gave it a really nice trigger for a striker gun.

Still kicking myself that I didn't buy it, man what a sweet gun. Didn't even care that it had a heel release mag, I found it kind of 'quaint", and it sort of belongs on such an odd-ball Euro pistol.

I dont know man. Last time I was in a gunfight and I was 4 mags deep with my Staccato I was happy for all that extra mass.

A lot of carry guys are delusional.
I'm curious what the heck type of situation you were in. That sounds like either multiple aggressors or suppressing fire (which using a pistol for must be an unusual experience).

I carry an extra magazine when I'm running anything single stack or I'm with the wife. If not it's usually just the pistol. If I find out the hard way I needed the extra magazine I was probably fucked to begin with.

If you're PD or similar ok.

95% of ALL shootings in the USA are resolved in 5 rounds or less.

Most people aren't rocking a gun belt with 2+ spare mags.
I carry an extra mag for my EDC, mostly as a hedge against the possibility of having an issue with the mag in the gun. I always tell people carrying an extra mag isn't necessary though. The idea that I'll fire more than 16 rounds is extremely unlikely, but I understand why people who live in places where pieces of shit attack in packs would want to carry an extra mag. They usually scatter when rounds start coming their way, but I wouldn't want to simply bet it on.

Speaking of the HK P7, there's a company who is gearing up to start manufacturing them again. I believe they bought the IP rights from HK. They'll be doing classic ones, but they will also be offering more modern options such as light rails and optics mounting. Personally, I'd just want a basic one in either nickel or chrome for when I want something more compact than my 1911 or Staccato. I believe they'll be around $1300 IIRC.
