To these people, talking about them without their permission is harassment.

That's why, for example, if someone replies to your skeet in a quote post, you can edit their post to detach your skeet. In addition, you can hide replies to your skeets. Bluesky call these "anti-toxicity features":

This is how troons and their ilk think it should always be: you can't talk about me or rebut anything I say unless I want you to.

what do you figure the intent of doxing is. Just curious. Why do you post a persons full on personal info, their family's their friends info, their addresses, their work so on and so forth. On a forum like this? Like what's your intent when you do this? Becouse this line of thinking and justification has always been strange to me. You're not doxing a person to make life safer or easier for them. You are absolutely not doing it in a place like this, for any positive reason.

Remember, they read this thread. It is indeed wholesome. They just happen to like something we also like (4chan too, because I remember racist impact-font memes with that shark from way before the transgender movement). Too bad that's a unpardonable sin to some people.

One example, and maybe this isn't particularly common, but it certainly was important to me, was that there was one prominent lolcow from my state with a thread here.

The thing is, he had the exact same name as a guy I went to high school with. He was approximately the same age, fit all of the less specific markers and I was almost wondering if it was the same guy I went to high school with.

The dox helped distinguish that, indeed, it was not the same guy I went to high school with. Just a bizarre coincidence.

My general point here is that while there's lots of nefarious uses of personal information, information is just information, and there's also innocent or harmless uses of personal information.

Generally when people get really buttmad about being doxed on the farms, it's never because they've got a persistent harassment problem going on at their home address. At least not coming from the farms. You do sorta see that with places like OnAForums and whatnot, but I'm not familiar of a case of anyone with a really serious, persistent harassment/stalking case solidly coming from the farms.

Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, when someone's bitching about being doxed on the farms, it's because they're serious pedos or rapists and they're just buttmad about their name being tied (with receipts) to their sketchy past.
