The Witcher Game Series

I might be thinking of something else, but aren't the attack animations in TW2 randomly selected? You need to do a quick slice and Geralt decides to randomly do some over the top spinning around attack, giving the enemy the chance to move and other enemies a chance to attack. Still, while the combat sucked, I really liked the game's writing, greatly preferring its focus on political intrigue over TW3's much simpler plot focus on the Wild Hunt.

Been a while since I played, but basically, yeah. Thankfully in W3 they rationalized it and Geralt only does big lunges like that when he needs to close the distance.

what they are going to turn ciri into a dyke rapist?
Her first lover was a dyke rapist, wouldn't be out of character tbh.
Nu-Ciri is kinda fugly compared to old, but I don't care if it's an otherwise great game (not saying I think that's likely).
She's partially elven so uglifying her stands out like a sore thumb. Witcher elves look weird to humans, but not ugly.
But wasn't the whole deal with Ciri vis a vis the Trials that her 1 in a billion genetic heritage -- which was the entire foundation of her super-specialness -- would be effectively wiped? It's been a while since I read the books, but I could swear this was directly addressed.
There's little said about what the Trials actually were but it seems to be some kind of extreme body mutilation through weird magical drugs and it works only if the subject is young enough. Think Jazz Jennings but instead of hormones he's fed datura and steroids. Ciri's genetic heritage wouldn't be affected by that IIRC, she was already fed some of that Witcher troonshine while hanging out at Kaer Morhen in the 1st book, but didn't undergo a full transformation. Exactly how would she survive the Trials as an adult, nevermind that there's no mage alive who knows how to do them...
I'll never understand the videogame industry.
Video game industry is the synecure of people who didn't made it in Hollywood. Lotsa frustrated screenplayers and directors. I blame Anita Sarkeesian.

Didn't Triss (or maybe Yennefer) say they made sure Ciri never took the Trials because it'd sterilize her and basically make her into a pooner (masculine and ugly, is how I think she describes it)? Everything about making Ciri the new protagonist and a witcher is retarded. Since they're setting it in a land that's barely been described and using a likewise little known about witcher school, they really should've just went with a new character for the protagonist.

In the first book Geralt summons Triss to Kaer Morhen to check out Ciri for her magic potential because she started rambling nonse in her sleep. Triss tells them to cool it with the mushrooms 'cause Ciri's body is not developing properly. Ciri went through some training and ate some steroids, she didn't undergo Trials which make witchers sterile but there wasn't anyone there who knew how to do it anyway.

Ciri is the protagonist because free advertising and video game writers (except Chris Avellone) couldn't write their way out of a paper bag.

CDPR games have always had absolutely awful combat, I'd say that's probably their most consistently feature.

Cyberpunk probably has the most fun combat and it's still extremely simplistic. Activate berserk and or Sandevistan and mash the attack button.
I thought I was going insane, I heard everyone praising witcher 3 as the game of all time and when I actually tried to play it it had the most unabashadely dogshit combat I had ever experienced in my entire life.

Yeah the writing is fine, but to get to the writing you have to dredge through whatever the fuck its attempting to pass off as gameplay, at that point just make a visual novel because the "gameplay" isn't enriching the experience.

I think I would have liked that more. W1's combat is 'unique' but it works, and W3's is bland but inoffensive, but I hated W2's, so much that I skip it over when doing a series playthrough. It's obvious it's something they salvaged from their aborted W1 360 port.
there is a combat revamp mod, never tried it but iirc it worked better for some people. think cdpr even added it the EE, but might remember that wrong.

You're probably thinking of Full Combat Rebalance 2. I'll grant that it attempts to fix CDPR's other fucking retarded decisions with that game, like with swallow having an unusable duration and the skill tree being the absolute worst of the five they made so far, but it's still just a mod, and the game has much more significant issues than what one employee can fix on his personal time.

You have to have actual investment in TW3’s story to enjoy the game. Ciri is somewhat more enjoyable to play as because she’s faster, can teleport, and of course is hot. Geralt chopping off heads is pretty cool though. But yeah the gameplay is just passable really.

IIRC they hired the FCR guy on, and as a result integrated it into Witcher 3 when they did their big NGE/4.0 upgrade. Not sure if they did that for W2.

And this was a problem Dynasty Warriors figured out how to prevent. Make sure every button press did the same animation and the power attack alters the animation a little bit by adding a special effect like stun or knock back.

The segments of W3 where one had to play as Ciri were okay but I sure as fuck wasn't interested in even a DLC featuring Ciri, let alone a full game. I never heard anyone express interest in that.

I don't know if it's woke necessarily but it does make me wonder if CDPR was going to be given some sort of grant or other free money if they bent the knee and ensured their writing/art style/character design sucked the nigger troon dick. I can't think of any other reason why they'd want an uggo Ciri (who's very likely a dyke) as the MC for the next game. It's not as if the Witcher IP is some obscure series that barely moved units.
