That's kind of the problem - Elon gave a bunch of money to elect a guy who can't get elected again. There's zero reason for Trump to keep him around now that he's served his purpose. Doubly so when you consider that Xitter has probably lost a full third of its American userbase so he doesn't even have use as a propagandist.

I agree, but I think Trump and Elon has a sort of shared understanding. There wasn't a hanger-on who hung-on this tightly the first time around, not so prominently and obviously. Elon was promising big spending for the midterms, where funding for competitive candidates has been an issue with McConnell and the loser-forever-GOP since 2016. I doubt that Trump has an issue with the policy - he did, after all, talk about literally stapling green cards to diplomas - but he knows which way the wind blows and I think in this late stage he's looking at a legacy more than anything else. I don't really consider this whole dustup about the H1B to be a real concern (again, Trump himself was talking about giving away green cards which is way worse than H1Bs), but Sriram being appointed to me reads like a signal to Silicon Valley that he's going to play ball to their interest. We'll see how this pans out over the next few weeks and if the topic of conversation will hold or, the dissident right having the attention span of goldfish, will shift to some other battle somewhere else.

Vivek reads to me as someone who thought he was far more ingratiated than how he was. Not sure if it was here or in USPG but a lot of people in the periphery mistake the attention and praise they get from the Trump base as being for them as individuals, rather than praise for them acting as extensions of Trump's will. Too many people made this mistake in the first term and you'd think they'd get the message here.

DOGE is a complete non-starter after this, especially if Vivek and Elon keep doubling down.

DOGE was never going to be anything of value. It was going to be Elon and Vivek coming up with wacky (read: stupid) ideas and then after a few months of getting absolutely nowhere, they’d tender their resignations and DOGE would dissolve. Also, a lot of zoomers who went to uni went all in on STEM/tech and their prime-voting-age parents are pissed that they now have kids without career prospects in the face of the tech downturn. You can tell Elon wasn't prepared for normie middle-aged parents to shit on him because all his defenses are tuned as if he's arguing against /pol/ chuds.

A lot of parents of STEM grads voted for Trump to root out the Jeet Menace, not double down on them. They have sons who can’t find a job despite doing the right things and meanwhile they keep getting told that we just can’t find Americans who can work these jobs. Lots of tech companies have strong antiwhite hiring policies and lots of Silicon Valley executives gave millions to Trump so they can import even more jeets and chinks.

Trump has his first real crisis of his second term and he hasn’t even been sworn in yet, thanks to his bestest buddy Elon.
