schizophrenia involves a lot of false memories and feelings of being in danger to begin with, plus memories can get twisted into something that didn't happen the way the person "remembers" it happening while they're delusional. Their brains essentially make up the worst shit imaginable. There's also a cultural aspect to it, and connections to real abuse they've been exposed to, stories of abuse, or even media they've consumed. The delusions tend to have the same themes across patients; religious, sexual, persecution, but the specifics vary based on culture and personal experiences.
