Just a reminder/warning that it is possible to deverify an account for some time period by changing the username or profile pic. So it is plausible that these people are just doing a gayop to make musk look bad.

I'm not sure exactly what changes trigger it but these were put in place to minimize the harm that account hacks/hijacking could cause (there were many people hacking/stealing verified accounts and then dumping Elon musk crypto scams on them. I believe there was one penultimate example where a DSP alog managed to compromise a "verified government spokesperson"/grey checkmark account and then spam DSP detractor shit on it)
