I saw this a while ago and was going to post it but thought I'd leave it for a while to see if anything came of it, then completely forgot. And of course half the shit got deleted again but I'll get to that.

So artist in question posts this post.

Decently made but like holy fuck the watermarks people use look like shit. It's so obnoxious and draws your eye way too much.

The artist then gets a couple comments from the same person. All of the tweets in this post will be machine translated so might be a bit fucky. Either way he gets a couple comments, one on that image, one. Fuck me. Literally as I was typing that this retard full deleted their account. Guess you're going to have to take my word for it then? But the other request was in reply to some completely random post that had nothing to do with this image.

The translation is a bit fucked up. He's asking for the character (Kazemaru) in the outfit in the image; sailor swimsuit (sailor mizugi) and for the character to be having his belly button played with or fingered. Kinda generic Twitter user. 'Hey I like this image could you make a minor alteration to fulfill my fetish'. Artist probably would never have done anything about it really, just ignored and moved on because the account isn't a fetish one. Shinya then posts this:

Once again everything got deleted so you'll have to take my word for it. Plus google translate once again has fucked up; the blue '? ...' is actually a link to a pixai post. The image was an edit of that original image with darker skin and the background character fingering Kazumaru's belly button. I cannot prove this anymore so call me a lying faggot or whatever if you want. I am almost certain that Shinya is autistic, from what I can see and discounting any text posts because of the language barrier, I would be willing to bet he has autism. His entire account is filled with trains. Do I need to say more? But he went around replying to random people posting the AI image he edited. Like typical autist not really understanding that random people don't want to interact with your fetish type shit ala justinrpg/chris megan porn. He posted it at least 10 times maybe 20 on random posts, a few having nothing to do with the character or series at all, though I can't prove that anymore. His entire media tab was just filled with this one image and linking to it.

At some point the original artist notices this and posts this. Timestamp in the image says 3 hours, don't know if that's the first post Shinya made, I think it was one of the first at least.

Basically none of the posts from Shinya had any likes. They pretty much all looked like how that screenshot did. 0 traction. He just spammed this image in random places and no one cared basically. I can't really get the AI image any better than that screenshot. It might just be from google translate being shitty but I kinda find it funny that he's calling it disturbing lol. Then the artist posts this. Second post does have extra, not relevant though, basically just saying 'i have a request site he could have requested through', one of those where you basically give artists ideas and if they like it they'll draw it for free.

I'm no expert on copyright, let alone for a different fucking county. But I'm fairly sure that it wouldn't be a DMCA report because Japan has different copyright laws, could just be semantics though. They are also incredibly cucked and the creators of the original anime could copyright strike this guy's art for using their character. Either way this guy starts talking about legal action. He then locks his account.

Then retweets some way to report copyright abuse through twitter I think? Basically just trying to deal with copyright claims.

Then a few days later he posts this. oops forgot to click 'see more' the extra text says "I think the support team probably sent some kind of notification when I filed the first report."

I'm not entirely sure because of the language barrier, as well as not actually knowing what report he filed. But it seems to me like he filed some report on twitter which sent Shinya a scary warning and he went and deleted everything. I also don't buy the apology. I just think he's saying that in the same way that people in school 'apologised' to the person they bullied or whatever. I don't think he actually thinks he did anything wrong. But that's all speculation because as I say whatever the artist did caused this guy to delete absolutely everything about the situation basically.

So that should be the end of it right? Normally I see people claiming AI 'stole' their art or whatever and it's just complete bullshit and the person just wants attention. This is just obviously different, the guy clearly took the original image and stuck it through pixai's i2i generator. Then again I still think it's a bit of an overreaction, I mean some autistic guy edited your image to fulfill his fetish and posted to 0 audience. I mean copyright is faggy enough but I can see the argument behind the whole stealing your audience side. This guy didn't. His belly button fetish art that got 0 likes is not going to take any followers away from a 5000 follower account that gets at least 1000 likes on each art post. Like yea I'm not going to say that Shinya is a good guy here but I'm also not going to say that threatening to fucking sue him is exactly a proportional response. But that should be the end of it. Posts deleted. Edit can't be found anywhere, even on archive sites from what I can find. Shinya said 'sorry'. Life's back to normal right?

Because for some fucking reason this guy decides that the appropriate follow up action of this situation isn't to delete the fluff posts, leave the important ones of 'hey this guy's doing some scummy shit' and 'he deleted everything', and then unlock his account and go back to normal. Nope. He first decides to leave it a while to think about it.

I guess it took Shinya/the website a while to delete the posts on other websites. He had posted it to pixai publicly as well as other image hosting sites like popiku and shit like that. Those are all gone now. But he leaves it a while to think. Just to sit and stew over the decision. And two weeks later he has made his decision. Once again not a rash choice, something he thought about for a fortnight. So surely it's going to be levelheaded right? Just delete the unimportant drama posts and unlock your account? Yea so anyway here's him announcing that he's fucking abandoning the account and making a new one?

What the fuck lol? How do you even come to that choice? Your had some guy being a bit of a dick to you and so you decided to make an entirely new account? That you will post everything from your old account on? Your decision is to remake your current account? Under a slightly different name? What the fuck is that going to do? Other than cutting your reach? You might as well just not do anything. Anyone who wanted to can still take your posts and stick them through i2i ai even if you post them on a new account. If you want to stop Shinya from following you and seeing your posts then making a new public account is literally the worst thing you could do. You're already privated so he can't see your current posts. The screenshot before last literally says he's worried about Shinya doing the same thing again. By creating a new public account he is now able to see your posts again. Blocking him and leaving your account on private is the best option. Or at least fucking use a different name if you plan to make a new account. Or just do the same thing if it happens again? You pressed a report button and that got the post deleted? Is that really that hard? Just fucking go on as you are now. I am just fucking baffled that creating a new account is your go to choice. I think I lied earlier. I said something about him deleting his account as I was writing this. I realised what happened now. He didn't. He instead slightly renamed it, so when I tried to open a post from the old handle it threw an error.

I do not know and will not comment on if this guy uses AI or not. He posts basically daily in this quality. There are other artists I follow that do the exact same thing too though. They didn't take the original image, probably didn't even make the joke originally either. It's kinda funny to see the response to this post in particular. But also having an inflated comment and qrt count from people being like AI bad is only going to make people like the original post more. Artists, and especially chronically online Twitter "artists," are usually soy lefties, and the most noticeable people who drive the AI hypetrain are fad-chasing tech companies enshittening their products or sociopathic techbros moving on from the last big thing (Blockchain, Web3, whatever). Redditors align with the former and despise the latter.

The problem is, as a group Redditors manifest hate hyperbolically, and also I doubt they're willing to bite other bullets about automation, and consumerism, and the prioritization of efficient production over artisanship: they'll only entertain arguments instrumentally as a weapon against their current designated target of hate rather than appreciate the broader implications.

Learning art is hard, and developing your unique style is something that takes years and years of continuous effort, having that stolen by some Chinese sweatshop worker with a laptop in, I want to say, a week, and then sold off on Patreon or Etsy is a vile feeling that I don't wish on anyone;

Then we have the low-quality (and as of now high quality as well) porn artists that legit only draw for the money complaining that their low-effort scribbles, with even lower quality shading, are getting outpaced by some nigger in Japan that can pump-out 1000 page CG's of furry porn in two days;

And lastly, it's the art club, no one wants to be practicing and struggling for years-to-decades building experience, only for some normie monkey that never held a pencil/Stylus/brush and has no interest ever to do so, to come in and claim a seat at the table with a picture of a cross-eyed anime woman with 8 fingered hands and 3 deformed arms.

AI is fun for shitposts, but not having it moderated has flooded the search bars with actual cancer, all so some degen. can pump his ai Patreon.

What I'm currently curious about is if Statuing is going to be making a resurgence, a physical medium that you can record on multiple angles to prove it's real, which sounds like a possibility for the future of most artists.

Watermarks don't really stop AI anyways, e.g. Flux fill can do this:

There's a ComfyUI workflow for that flowing around.

Currently, image and video generation is still relatively complicated. It will get a lot easier when multimodal models become better, as these will be able to rework images or generate coherent plots between them from natural text instructions. We're like, at the beginning.

There's also models that can make 3D meshes out of one-shot images, these don't work incredibly well yet, but the potential is there: TRELLIS

People also have been experimenting with using stable diffusion to generate textures for 3D objects:

There is no daily images cap that Twitter has, no one using AI is taking anyone's seat because there are an endless amount of chairs. Most people I've seen don't think this way either, most people just want to post cool shit of characters they like or play around with the technology. It's a pretty common rhetoric on Twitter, same as fucking everything nowadays, the whole bipartisanal us vs them type mentality. In reality it's just two separate communities of people with little overlap. Unless you want to talk about professionally but until I see anyone talking about how coders and devs will lose their jobs way before any artist will I'm just not going to bother with that argument.

My guy have you seen Japan lately? Making statues is already pretty big. I doubt it will become much more popular as a hobby. I mean how long does it take to learn how to 3d model? I know from experience you are not going to learn how to work with stone in any short period of time. If you're talking about actual marble statues then no one is learning how to do that shit before AI can create a 3d model you can print off on a home resin printer. I wouldn't be surprised if it's making legally distinct space knights by the end of next year.

While it may take years to reach a certain level of skill, the skills remain so you don't have to re-learn them every time you make a new work. That said, it can suck major monkey ass if someone makes money off of bootleg stuff of art you put a lot of effort to make... or if someone deliberately lies by trying to claim they made what you made. It can also suck if someone falsely claims that AI-generated stuff that emulates a unique style you came up with was done by you -- or if said style wasn't invented by you.

However, if AI-made art doesn't use substantial unique portions in a non-transformative way, it's most likely not copyright infringement... yet it can still be competition.

I like to think of "AI hands" as "motion blur", but that trick doesn't always work. And yep, someone who only generates AI art is no artist, like someone using a 3D printer to print a bowl is not a sculptor. Entering prompts is pretty much the same as using a search engine, even if there's some imagination or creativity in thinking up prompts.

It's so over for artists, they don't even realize how over it is.

If I were to make art to show to the world, I'd likely do it for fun, rather than for money.
