By that logic this thread should not exist because it is unnecessary. I agree 1 on 1 arguments is pointless. Nobody wins on the internet. I do however believe that a general counter argument should exist.
I agree to a point. You are correct in assuming some are bad faith. Some are not. Some people don't know shit about anime or very very little. So they will ask, genuinely, if something is loli because it is all the same to them. There is also a third group in denial that have been in deep for decades most likely, that don't want reality to be true. So they ask.
Yes all three of these groups should be able to tell what clearly is a 5 year old on a screen. I've just explained why they don't. In the end the thread should be able to adequately address and further understand lolishit, it's impacts, and it's affects on people. And also laugh at retards of course. I hope this explanation is adequate.

I like to read comics on the shitter. Recently, I have gone from filtering out everything besides japanese manga to filtering everything besides korean manhwa. It's not really that the quality is better, I mostly read trashy action stuff. But I finally realized that I never had to worry about seeing children get sexualized in the korean stuff.

Couple of friends of mine read a lot of manhwa and while, true, it's less focused on underaged and trap shit, a lot of what my friends are into involves a shitton of dubcon relationships and weird relationship type bullshit. One of my friends has repeatedly tried to explain this questionable dynamic involving "alpha", "beta", "gamma", whatever the fuck, and it's slightly different in some ways from what we know of their usage in internet nomenclature in what's involved in the classifications, but apparently it's a metric used in some manhwa to define relationships the same way people might use astrological signs, blood types, or that MBTI shit.
To break it down another way, yeah, there's not really much kid shit in manhwas, but the tradeoff is that they apparently really like to romanticize unhealthy, borderline abusive relationships.

Japanese anime/manga industry are up against competition from both of their lovely neighbors, South Korea and China.
In the past 10 years Manhwa and Manhua have been gaining popularity because Japan has been churning out pure shit when it comes to stories. Other than shounen, which is always overblown trash, very few series have gotten some steam.
I can count on my right hand how many mangas that are worth reading that came out within the past 10 years. Japan has restorted to publishing fetish bait series to makeup for money lost to other countries.
Notice how DBZ, One Piece, and Bleach is STILL GOING IN 2024. Decades old series still going because nothing has topped it for popularity yet. That right there is a sign that anime/manga has stagnated massively and has been over-flooded…

That and the fact that promising shounen like MHA or JJK dropped the ball bigly at the end, or how even seemingly normal mangas like ONK turned into nothing more than incest-bait. There's also the factor that plenty of animes nowadays are actualy webnovels-turned light novels-turned mangas-turned animes, which means that the quality is not that great because most people just try to chase trends to get a lucky break, and that apart from the likes of Sadamoto there's not that many promising young authors
